pfcm19800422POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MUSKEG0
April 22, 1980
The Police and Fire Commission of the City of Muskego held their
quarterly meeting on Tuesday, April 22, 1980, in the conference room of
the Muskego Police Department. The meeting was called to order at 8:lOPM
by President Horn. Present were President Horn, Secretary Swarthout, Mr.
Bohrer, Mr. Lindner and Chief Scholz. Mr. Moser was absent.
The minutes of the January 29, 1980 meeting were approved as read.
OLD BUSINESS: Chief Scholz reported that after the written test for the
cadet's position, only one candidate remained. The Chief interviewed
and hired him, Eric Pedersen.
President Horn questioned that seeing only one candidate remained,
whether the position should have been re-advertised. He also questioned
whether the Police and Fire Commission should be more involved in hiring
a cadet as he has the potential of becoming a police officer.
Chief Scholz advised that the cadet's position is a temporary one to
be renewed each year by the Common Council. This is also a civilian posi-
tion. In the future a letter will be sent to the Commissioners advising
them on the hiring of a cadet.
There was a discussion on the alternatives to renewing the present
eligibility list for police officers which at this time contains three
candidates, one of which is presently employed at the Muskego Police De-
partment as a Dispatcher (newly titled Telecomunicator) after having been
a cadet here for 1% years.

ADDENDUM: February 1980
Information on Cadet's Position:
Four applicants took the written test on February 9, 1980. Two
of these candidates were eliminated due to unfavorable background
investigations. The thitd candidate possessed an Indiana driver's
license, however, he had lived in Wisconsin since August 1979 and
had failed to apply for a Wisconsin driver's license during that
time. Oral interviews scheduled for February 16, 1980 were can-
celled and Chief Scholz interviewed the remaining candidate. This
candidate, Eric Pedersen, was hired effective March 17, 1980.
