pfcm19750918MUSKEG0 FIRE & POLICE COMMISSION September 18, 1975 The meeting was called to order by President William Ahrens at 8:OO p.m. with the following members present. Mr. Ahrens, Mr. Lindner, Mr. Horn, Mr. Maser and Chief Kraus. Guests were Mrs. Masch and a reporter, Mr. Dennis Shook of the Muskego, New Berlin post. The minutes of the November 21, 1974 meeting were read and approved. Chief Kraus advised the commission that James Larson had been appointed to the position of cadet. Mr. Ahrens advised the conmission to elect a president and a secretary with the duties of secretary to include that of the position of vice president. Mr. Lindner made a motion to retain Mr. Ahrens as president. Mr. Horn seconded the motion. Motion carried. Mr. Lindner made a motion to elect Mr. Horn as secretary. Mr. Moser seconded the motion. Motion carried. Mr. Lindner made a motion that the secretary will also be the vice president. Mr. Horn seconded the motion. Motion carried. Mr. Ahrens advised the commission that Mr. Gottfried would like to have the commission meet at City Hall as the Council Chambers is not being used on the 3rd Thursday of the month. Mr. Horn made a motion to hold the commission meetings at City Hall on the 3rd Thursday of the month. Seconded by Mr. Lindner. Motion carried. 0 case stood. Mr. Wilcox had appealed with in the time limit set by the state but did Mr. Ahrens brought the commission members up to date on where the Michael T. Wilcox not include the reason for the appeal as :required, by Wisconsin Statutes. The commission does not recognise the appeal and therefore will take no action. Chief Kraus introduced Mrs. M. Kathy Masch and advised the commission regarding the present eligibility list, which has been exhausted except for Mrs. Masch who has qualified for the position of patrolman but would like to decline that position in favor of the position of Community Service Officer; keeping her eligibility open. There is no position of Community Service Officer at the present time. Mrs. Masch appealed to the commission to recommend to the Common Council to create the position of Community Service Officer. Chief Kraus advised the commission that advertisement for a patrolman was necessary and a new eligibility list was needed. Mr. Ahrens stated that the present eligibility list may be invalid due to the fact that an eligibility list expires after 1 year. An attorney is to be contacted for verification. Mr. Horn stated to Mrs. Masch that if anything can be done in the way of a recommendation that the commission will certainly do so. Mrs. Masch thanked the commissioners for their time and considerat-ion. The meeting adjourned at 9:18 p.m. with the commission going into an Executive Session. Warren V. Moser Sr. Secretary
