pfcm19690715CITY OF MUSKEGO FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSION July 15, 1969 The July meeting of the Fire and Police Commission for the City of Muskego was called to order by President William Ahrens on Tuesday, July 15, 1969 at 8:lO pm in the office of the Chief of Police. Present were Mr William Ahrens, Mr Walter Bohrer, Mr Richard Horn, Mr Bernard Lindner, Mr Warren Moser, and Chief of Police Ervin W Kraus. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. Chief Kraus reported that the creation of the two lieutenants' positions was in the form of a resolution which amended the salary ordinance to read " 2 lieu- tenants, 1 sergeant." Therefore, these are not new positions but rather title changes. The Comission may authorized the Chief to make the appointment to lieutenant or the Commission may set up a promotional examination. Mr Ahrens reported that, in order to conform with State Civil Service regulations, spec- ifications for the position of lieutenant should be drawn up and accepted by the Comission. The Chief will present the documented qualifications of the didates based on their qualifications. President Ahrens cautioned that the three applicants to the Commission and the Commission will decide on the can- qualifications of all the men on the department should be checked against the position specifications to determine if there may be any additional applicants. Chief Kraus reported that he will draw up the specifications for the position and will supply the Commissioners with a copy before the August meeting. Chief Kraus pointed out that, since the position is a title change and the ordinance does not provide for three sergeants' positions, two of the sergeants would have to make a choice between accepting a lower position or resigning from the department. The next meeting of the Commission will be held on Thursday, August 14, 1969.
