pfcm19690410CITY OF MUSKEG0 POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION MEETING April 10, 1969 0 e e The regular monthly meeting of the Police and Fire Commission for the City of Muskego was called to order by President William Ahrens on April 10, 1969 at 8:05 p.m. in the office of the Chief of Police. Warren Moser, and Ervin W Kraus, Chief of Police. Members present were Mr William Ahrens, Mr Walter Bohrer, Mr Richard Horn, Mr The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. Chief Kraus reported that the comparative study of salary and fringe benefits had not been completed as yet but would be completed in time for the next meet- ing of the Commission. Chief Kraus reported that he had a meeting with Officer Czisny who is on leave from the department and that, as of this date, Officer Czisny is still undecided Officer Czisny will contact the Chief as soon as possible with this information. as to whether he will return to the department when his schooling is completed. Chief Kraus reported that, for all practical purposes, the present eligibility visibility of holding another examination pending an opening in the department. list has been depleted. Chief Kraus questioned the Commission about the ad- The members of the Commission decided to contact the Public Safety Committee for the City of Muskego to discuss plans for the future of the police depart- ment. The Commission will make an appointment with the Public Safety Committee for a hearing during the month of May. Chief Kraus and the will include (1) the Chicago survey which was made at the request of the City prior to the conception of the department and sets down a tentative plan for the construction and future growth of the department, (2) a plan for upward mobility of officers within the department, (3) a projection of population growth and the need for police personnel in direct proportion to that growth, (4) a sample schedule for the patrolmen and sergeants in the department showing the number of personnel on duty on each shift, (5) an organizational chart show- ing the responsibilities and duties of each division, (6) a comparative study of to remain competitive in this field to attract highly qualified men to our de- the salary and fringe benefits for officers showing the need for our department partment, (7) the number of overtime hours worked by the department due to the shortage of manpower, and (8) any other plans or projections hich will enable the Public Safety Committee to get an overall view of the planning necessary for the future of the department. Chief Kraus suggested to the Commission that the members of the staff of the police department should be present at the next Fire and Police Commission meeting as they would prove helpful to the Commission in formulating their presentation to the Public Safety Committee.
