pfcm02102022Unapproved CITY OF MUSKEGO POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION MINUTES February 10, 2022 6:30PM Muskego City Hall Meeting Room 2, W182 S8200 Racine Avenue CALL TO ORDER Meeting was called to order at 6:30PM by Commissioner Mooney. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ROLL CALL Commissioners Mooney, Whittow, Kuspa, Jaske and Boyer were present. Chief Westphal was also present. STATEMENT OF PUBLIC NOTICE PUBLIC APPEARANCE NEW BUSINESS Sgt. Promotion – Chief explained that James Bryce has 17 years of experience as a Sergeant coming from the Milwaukee Police Department. He explained that there were four qualified candidates and Bryce was a unanimous decision. Chief requested approval from the police and fire commission for the promotion of Bryce to Sergeant. Commissioner Mooney made a motion to approve James Bryce to Sergeant. Commissioner Whittow seconded. Motion passed all in favor. Hiring Process – Chief advised the department was currently down one member and he would like to expedite the process with a female applicant from Racine Police Department. He advised she has 6 years on the job and is an experience evidence technician. Chief advised that the background process was going to begin soon. There was little discussion and no opposition. Chief Westphal also advised that a completely new hiring process for officer will be starting in March to establish an eligibility list and to look at potential candidates for the July 1st position that was created. CLOSED SESSION Commissioner Kuspa made a motion to go into closed session at 6:45PM. Commissioner Whittow seconded. Motion passed all in favor. NOTICE OF CLOSED SESSION PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Police & Fire Commission of the City of Muskego will convene upon passage of the proper motion into closed session pursuant to State Statute, Section 19.85 (1) (C ): Considering employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility for the specific of considering employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data, more specifically for the purpose of discussing specific personnel issues within the police department. OPEN SESSION Commissioner Whittow made a motion to go back into open session. Commissioner Kuspa seconded. Motion passed all in favor. Back in open session at 7:00PM. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Jaske made a motion to adjourn, Commissioner Boyer seconded. Motion passed all in favor. Meeting was adjourned at 7:00PM.
