INFORMATIONAL PUBLIC HEARING
ON KURTH PARK PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT MONDAY, OCTOBER 24, 1994
MINUTES
The informational hearing on the proposed plan to develop Kurth Park was called to order at 6:00 p.m.
The department staff and Board members present were Peter Theis (Parks Director), Gordy Jacobson (Recreation Director), Jerald
Hulbert (Board President), Howard Schneider, Toby Whipple, and
Alder-woman Donna Woodard.
Mr. Theis welcomed those citizens in attendance and introduced Mr. Paul Skidmore, the consultant from Quality Consulting
Services, Inc.
Mr. Skidmore reviewed the proposed plan and justification for
the development.
The Board members in attendance had no comments at this time.
At 6:30 p.m., from the public sector were heard.

Mike Ogrezovich asked if lights will be installed on
softball fields.
Lisa Tisher questioned when the earliest playing time would
be scheduled for the athletic fields. Also, questioned the
parking lots on Woods Road and had traffic concerns.
Dave Rozman defined the park as a "sports complex" much to
his displeasure. He further asked about utilizing school
property as an alternative site for these athletic fields
and questioned the increase of traffic this will generate
on Woods Road.
Susan Lewis did not like the parking lot design off of
Woods Road. She had safety concerns regarding high water
times in the creek and questioned the park's drainage
patterns.
Mike Murphy asked about the play area off Hidden Creek
Court, questioned how to control parking on Hidden Creek Ct, and asked about the paths running throughout the parks.
Mike McLean questioned how to control parking on Hidden Creek Ct.
Nancy Lietzau mentioned that traffic and parking in Belmont

Greens is a problem, said the park lacks proper
maintenance, felt the creek needs to be cleaned up, said teens loiter and make noise, questioned if lights will be installed in the parking lot, and asked if Tess Corners
School should be made an alternate site.
Dorothy Lewandowski had noise level concerns, questioned
the emergency/service drive, and asked to relocate the
athletic fields.
Mike Ogrezovich asked to have the amount of parking off
Woods Road reduced.
Debi Shiroda asked if any mature trees would be removed and
asked about berm design and planting program.
Jim Schrieber asked to have the amount of parking off Woods
Road reduced.
Daryl Hantula had traffic control problems in Belmont Greens especially speeding and expressed maintenance
concerns regarding existing parkland.
Gary Gulbins expressed maintenance concerns regarding
existing facilities and questioned what leagues would be
utilizing the softball fields.
Paul Llanes questioned where the money to pay for the park amenities was coming from.
Sob Barczark said he was a potential future resident and
expressed his displeasure of turning the area into a
"sports complex."
Mrs. Barczark questioned the amount of amenities included
in the park site.
Mike Piering had ecological concerns about parking lot
run-off entering the creek
At 8:30 p.m., there being no further comments from the public sector, Consultant Skidmore gave a brief financial assessment
and cost estimates for the plan.
The hearing concluded. The citizens were informed that the
public input will be reviewed at the next Parks and Recreation
Board meeting scheduled for Monday, November 14, at 6:00 p.m. in
the Aldermen's Room of City Hall.
