PARES & RECREATION BOARD, CITY OF MUSKEGO
MONDAY, OCTOBER 11, 1993
The monthly meeting of the Parks and Recreation Board, City of
Muskego, was called to order at 6:lO p.m. by Board President Jerry Hulbert.
PRESENT: Adele Kehoe, Ron Stephens (arrived at 6:15 p.m.),
Jerald Hulbert, Alder-woman Donna Woodard, Richard Manchester, Gordon L. Jacobson (Recreation Director), and Pete Theis (Parks Director).
ABSENT: James Dumke (excused), Howard Schneider

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Adele Kehoe moved, Alderwoman Woodard seconded, to approve the minutes of the September 13th Board meeting as mailed. Motion passed, all in favor.
PERSONAL APPEARANCES:
Ball diamond usage for 1994
Mr. Ron Ford expressed his concern to the Parks and Recreation
Board regarding number of diamonds available for future growth of baseball leagues. Lights and complex ideas were discussed. Gordon will be contacting league representatives regarding their
needs in the future; possibly set up meeting with representatives.
MPAG capital budqet request
Members of the Muskego Public Access Group (Channel 7) updated
the Board members on their capital budget request. The group needed to select one of two equipment packages and indicated their decision in a letter to the Board. The Board took no action and recommended that the MPAG's request be passed on to
the Finance Committee.
WRITTEN CORRESPONDENCE:
The Board members were in receipt of a letter from Alderwoman Donna Woodard regarding the Muskego Emergency Transitional Housing, Inc. The organization is seeking volunteers, materials

and money to provide transitional housing for needful Muskego residents. The letter addressed in detail their first project.
OLD BUSINESS:
Lake access sign on Pleasant View Drive
Pete reported that the D.N.R. standard was used as a guideline
(3" block letters) recommended by the Police Department. The
Board members suggested Mr. Larsen request a signage design
change through the Fire and Police Commission.
D.N.R. response to Lions Park well
Pete received a report back from Aqua Well and Pump Systems,
Inc. on the Lions Park well. The casing was cracked. This was
identified as source of contamination. The quote to repair is
$2,200. Pete would like to hold off on repairing this until
spring when funds become available.
DEPARTMENT REPORTS:
RECREATIOM
Proqram Status
Gordon had no updates. Gordon will look into the afternoon
aerobic program being held at Muskego Elementary (lack of attendance).
Review pool rental policy and procedure
It was recommended that the requesting party submit the
application form with fee upfront. Gordon will put together and
present in November.
PARKS
Muskeqofest follow-up report
Mark Wolf passed out letter of response regarding concerns as
brought up by Peter.
Handicap accessible pier
Pete reported that the deadline for completion of the handicap accessible pier at Idle Isle is set for November 5; work to be
done pending the finalization of contracts.
Budqet(s) review
The Parks budgets were discussed. The $800 for cleaning
services was cut from the operating budget. Capital Budget
approved SO% of the Parks Headquarters restoration project

(Phase IV) and a line sprayer. All other requests were not
approved.
Garbage collection issue
Pete informed Board members that under the city-wide garbage
collection, parks are given one dump per week. Peter needs more service and foresees that collection will potentially be a
problem.
NEW BUSINESS, OTHER BUSINESS:
Subdivision plans from Plan Commission
Kimberly Estates--preliminary plan
In the matter of the Kimberly Estates access point, motion at
Plan Commission was that this become a DubliC access as
requested by the gated.
Candlewood Creek
Parks and Recreation Board; also be paved and
Phase I--final
In the matter of the Candlewood Creek Phase I final. the Board reviewed and determined there would be no effect on.parks.
COMMUNICATIONS AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS l Mr. Tony Zinski, representing the Muskego marking trails for snowmobiling. He will

President Hulbert brought up information regarding Lions Park Drive extension. Questions regarding bike path/sidewalk.

There being no further business, Richard Manchester moved to
adjourn. Adele Kehoe seconded. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 9:40 p.m.
