PRB061493minutesMINUTES PARKS & RECREATION BOARD, CITY OF MUSKEGO MONDAY, JUNE 14, 1993 The monthly meeting of the Parks and Recreation Board, City of Muskego, was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Board President Jerry Hulbert. PRESENT: Alderwoman Donna Woodard, Jim Dumke, Ron Stephens, Jerald Hulbert (excused at 7:25 p.m.), Richard Manchester, Howard Schneider, Peter Theis (Parks Director), and Gordon L. Jacobson (Recreation Director) ABSENT: Adele Kehoe GUESTS: see attached list INTRODUCTION OF NEW BOARD MEMBER: Howard Schneider was introduced to the Parks and Recreation Board members. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Under Board attendance, remove Fran Burgeson as being absent as she was no longer a member of the Board. Jim Dumke moved to approve the minutes of the May 10 meeting as corrected. Ron Stephens seconded. Motion carried. PERSONAL APPEARANCES: Muskeqo Jaycees Mr. Mike Congemi of the Muskego Jaycees was present to request approval for a fund-raiser softball tournament to be held at Bluhm Park. Alderman Woodard moved to approve the tournament if it does not conflict with others scheduled. Beer sales to be approved by proper committees. The motion received a second and was approved unanimously. Ball diamond schedule Mr. Don Dietzler was not present to voice his concerns regarding the ball diamond schedule. Minutes, Parks & Recreation Board Meeting, WRITTEN CORRESPONDENCE: Freedom Acres tennis courts The Board members reviewed the correspondence received from Attorney Molter on the Freedom Acres tennis courts. Howard Schneider moved to send to Finance Committee to get a dollar amount to purchase the tennis courts. Alderwoman Woodard seconded. Motion carried unanimously. Muskego Recreation Trail The Board were in receipt of the Muskego Historical Society's response to department's request for the bike trail going through the Old Settlement Centre. The society indicated they had reviewed the plans for the trail extension and they had no problem with the extension or the layout. OLD BUSINESS: Milwaukee Kickers Gordy reported that 161 participants were signed up as of June I. Gordy also reported that George Hansen, Recreation Supervisor, did an excellent job on this program including working with the Milwaukee Kicker's organization. a Summer Swim Proqram/Janitorial Service Ron Stephens moved, Jim Dumke seconded, to pay the time-and-a-half person for swim program at regular pay rate. Motion carried. Bridqeport Way bike path Ron Stephens moved to narrow bike path to six (6') feet where necessary at Lots 26, 21, 28, 19, and to run path over forty (40') foot easement onto Bay Lane Terrace to exit onto Bay Lane. Richard Manchester seconded. The motion carried with Alderwoman Woodard voting nay. DEPARTMENT REPORTS: RECREATION Proqram status Programs are filling up and the recreation department staff is very busy. Minutes, Parks & Recreation Board Meeting, 3 'JUN 1 4 1993 Muskego High School softball diamonds The Board members discussed potential usage of the Muskego High School softball diamonds in 1994. Gordy will bring back more information at the next meeting. PARKS Parks Dedication fund The Board deferred the discussion of the parks dedication fund to the July meeting. Deferred Revenue Account The City Clerk has requested that the monies in the deferred revenue account be transferred into an annual revenue account. Jim Dumke moved, Alderwoman Woodard seconded, to transfer the monies in Deferred Revenue Account 0100.0000.0257 to the Parks Revenue Account 0100.0043.0796. Motion was approved unanimously. DNR pier specifications The Board members reviewed the specifications for the proposed fishing pier at Idle Isle Park. Richard Manchester moved, Howard Schneider seconded, to accept the pier specifications. Motion was approved unanimously. NEW BUSINESS, OTHER BUSINESS: Subdivision plans from Plan Commission Heinrich & Boehm sketch In the matter of the Heinrich & Boehm sketch, it will be redrawn. Kelly Estates final In the matter of the Kelly Estates final plan, it was approved. Lakeview Hiqhlands North preliminary In the matter of the Lakeview Highlands North preliminary plan, the Dawson property was briefly discussed. COMMUNICATIONS AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS AS AUTHORIZED BY LAW: Bike Path Info for Subdivider's Handbook Pete to present Board with bike path specifications and information requested by Ruekert and Mielke to be included in the new subdivider's handbook. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, Richard Manchester moved to adjourn. Alderwoman Donna Woodard seconded. Motion carried.
