SUB-COMMITTEE MEETING FOR REVIEW OF JOB DESCRIPTION/CONCEPT
FOR DANCE/GYMNASTIC SUPERVISOR/COORDINATOR POSITION
TUESDAY, JANUARY 2, 1990
The sub-committee of the Parks and Recreation Board met at 3:40 p.m. to
review the job description/concept of a dance/gym supervisor/coordinator
position.
Members present: Jerald Hulbert, Ron Stephens, Richard Manchester and
Jackie Schweitzer (Recreation Supervisor). Therese Rilling
was unable to attend.
Based on the comments and discussion with Mary Kozlik at the Nbvember 13th
Board meeting, the sub-committee met to discuss the different ways this
position has been viewed.
The following ideas were suggested:
1.) To look at paying for an instructor and paying extra for lesson
planning.
2.) Consider having a head instructor who would have coordination/supervision
responsibilities.
3.) Separate dance and gym as coordinator positions.
4.) Pay per student cost.
The sub-committee requested Jackie to contact other area Recreation Departments
to determine the extensiveness of their programs, who owns the programs,
are they on file in the office, what kind of organizational structure do they
have and support staff.
The sub-committee also requested a breakdown of the 1989 fall dance and
gymnastic classes regarding revenue, number of different levels of classes and
instructor salary costs.
The sub-committee requested that Jackie look at having "unit plans" prepared
by program instructors and placed on file for all recreation programs that
would need this. Children's Red Cross lessons would be exempt as that program
is already explicitly detailed. This, item to be placed oirthe regular
January Board agenda.
The meeting adjourned at 5:25 p.m.
