PRB052085minutesMINUTES PARKS & RECREATION BOARD MEETING Monday, May 20, 1985 PRESENT: Dick Arrowood, Daniel Hilt, Donald Kangas, Jackie Schweitzer (Recreation Supervisor) and Peter Theis (Parks Supervisor). There being no quorum, no formal action was taken by the Board. Items on the agenda were discussed for information for those Board members present. GUESTS: Harry Udvare, Jim Prusinski, and Ray Vees. Mr. Udvare discussed the fencing for $1,100 and Pete is to contact the sewer committee regarding this subject. He also stated that the Bluhm Park practice scheduling conflicts will be corrected internally by the M.A.A. Jim Prusinski was at the meeting to discuss his tournament plans with the Board. He was informed that the past bill of $178.63 owed by Duane Mlachnik is to be paid before the tournament, a beer permit is to be filed, Bushy's is to get insurance with the City listed as an additional insured party, and that extra portable facilities will be required. All of the above concerns are to be coordinated with Pete. Discussion regarding the Women's League Tournament was discussed and the re- scheduling request is to be handled by Jackie based on field availability. Praise Fellowship and Denoon Senior Center Status: A letter was received from Praise Fellowship regarding future use of the Denoon Senior Center for their worship. The lease expires June 30, 1985. The Board felt that the City should request that the current lease be extended for six months and the church group should be notified that they would be able to continue to sublease the property, but if the City would opt not to use the facility during the cold months due to the condition of the furnace, the Praise Fellowship would have to pay all expenses. The Prospect Aid Society has requested the use of the old town hall for card parties once a month. The Board suggested that the society get the Historical Society Board to approve the request before they seek approval from the Parks and Recreation Board. If the Historical Society Board agrees to grant them permission, the Parks and Recreation Board would also grant them approval. The lease agreement for ballfields with the school district was discussed. Peter brought the parking lot condition to the attention of those Board members present as the School Board approved the lease agreement with a condition that the City fix the parking lot at Mill Valley. He also stated that the park budget in 1986 will include funds for improvements based on negotiations with the school district. Discussion then took place on the most recent TIF appropriations; namely, those involving Denoon Park and Settlement Park. Recreation Report: The recreation supervisor commented on the recent dance recital and also discussed the cable TV equipment and club organization status. The update on the program brochure mailing was also given. Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. sjd/5-23-85 pc: Board Members, Mayor, Aldermen, City Clerk, Jackie Schweitzer, Peter Theis, THE MUSKEGO SUN
