PRB020981minutesBASEBALL SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD, CITY OF MLISKEGO Monday, February 9, 1981 The meeting was called to order at City Hall at 7:30 P.M. COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT: Dick Arrowood, Karen Wessel, Tom Raimann, Carl Wauer, and Jackie St. Mary, Recreation Supervisor. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. UNIFORMS . . . A total of $1,625.00 is budgeted for equipment for the Land O'Lakes, Junior Varsity, and Varsity programs. $600.00 to $700.00 of this money is for baseballs, $300.00 for bats, leaving about $625.00 for uniforms or other equipment. At present, the shirts of the Varsity team are in poor condition. The issue of taking Varsity and Junior Varsity games off of Horn Field usage was discussed. There is a $240.00 entry fee if the varsity is to play at one of the county parks, (either Rainbow or Greenfield), as a home field. The Junior Varsity will stay at Horn. The league will be told that they should not schedule make-up games in the evenings on Mondays or Thursdays. Land O'Lakes . . . Jon Beatka is willing to attend business meetings, but does not want to manage the team. However, there are two persons who may want to manage the team. For the present, there is no manager. Any person who expresses interest in the position should be told that there will be no compensation. Coaches . . . Gary Kalkopf has agreed to coach the Varsity and Jeff Martyka the Junior Varsity team. They are aware of the salaries of $525.00 for the season and the subcommittee wishes to go on record as recommending hiring Gary and Jeff. The subject of uniforms was again discussed. A deal can be obtained on a whole uniform from Mid City Sporting Goods. A 25% discount on a $33.00 price which would mean a cost of $24.00 for a uniform plus lettering. The possibility of each player buying his own hat was discussed. A total price of $450-$500 for 16 full uniforms was estimated. These uniforms are double knit polyester and will last longer than last years. A total price quote for lettering and uniforms will be obtained. Baseball field scheduling was discussed.
