PARKS & RECREATION BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, OCTOBER 13, 1980
The meeting was called to order at 7 50 p.m.
PRESENT Michael Weed, Dick Arrowood, Tom Raimann, Carl Wauer, Peter Theis, Parks Supervisor and Jackie St. Mary,
Recreation Supervisor.
ABSENT Karen Wesell, JoAnn Kehl, Dick Manchester.
The minutes of the September 29 meeting were corrected to read
"Budget Committee Meeting" not "Special Meeting of Parks and
Recreation Board" as there was not a quorum at that meeting. Minutes were approved as corrected. The minutes of the meetings
l held September 15 and 22 were read and approved as mailed.
PERSONAL APPEARANCES
Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery House appeared before the Board to request
that the age requirement of 18 for adult open swim be waived for their 16-year-old daughter. They presented to the Board a medical
excuse which recommended swimming twice a week for back therapy.
Carl Wauer moved to allow the girl to use the pool as long as the
attendant was made aware of the situation, and as long as the
chiropractor recommends it. The motion was seconded by-Michael
Weed and carried.
Mr. and Mrs. Greg Skrobis (S76 W13414 Fairfield Court, Hales
Corners 53130.) indicated to the Board their concern about the
Bluhm Farm project. Primarily, what will be done at the park
in regard to the entrance to the parking lot. The plan shows
the access to be from Lake Lore Subdivision. They requested
that the entrance be off of McShane Road or from the access
road to the sewage treatment plant. Dave Schreiber will be
asked to look into the request and study the feasibility of changing the lot and entrance by Pete Theis.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS
Parks Division
Bluhm Farm
(a) Pete Theis reported to the Board that the change on infield
as per plan not be changed (Reference Minutes, September 15, 1980. )
(b) After reviewing the project site, a 15-foot culvert along the ditch will be needed.
(c) There's a balance of $7,500 in unused moneys and a decision
should be made by October 15 on how to spend it. Discussion
followed on how to spend $6,988.80. A letter, dated August 4, from Dave Schreiber recommended the expenditure
of $6,714 on two (2) diamonds with player benches available
and one (1) diamond with bleachers available. Michael Weed
moved to recommend to the City Council to get two sets of
players' benches and one set of bleachers for Bluhm Farm.
Carl Wauer seconded the motion. Motion carried.
(d) Review of the bids for, the asphalt pavement were discussed.
Dave Schreiber recommended the acceptance of Wolf's bid
for the paving. Michael Weed moved, seconded by Carl Wauer, to recommend to the City Council approval of low bid from
Wolf. Motion carried.
(3) The payment recommendation from Schreiber was $16,200 to
Wolf. Michael Weed moved to recommend to the Common Council
to pay Wolf Construction $16,200. The motion was seconded
by Carl Wauer and carried.
Parks Garage
The work is in progress to winterize the parks garage, however,
an additional $2,000 will be needed to complete the project.
Recreation Division
(a) Revised department structure was presented by Jackie included an up-dated organizational chart and job descriptions for
the park sup:ervisor and recreation supervisor.
(b) The recreation supervisor gave a report on the number of
participants taking advantage of our fall programs currently in session.
(c) Miss St. Mary requested the hiring of Colleen Weber at $4
per hour wage. Michael Weed moved, Carl Wauer seconded,
to approve the request. The motion carried.

(d) Change in secretarial schedule was suggested by Fran. Change would be to work 2 + days rather than 5 half-days
It was pointed out that there could be an advantage with this work schedule. Michael Weed was asked to check if
this is possible under City rules and Jackie is to check
with the two secretaries.
(e) Jackie reported that she met with school administration
officials to iron out any problems or concerns regarding
use of their facilities. She will meet with them regularly
in the future.
(of) Work at the Denoon Senior Center is to be completed by
Wednesday, October 15. The senior citizens have volunteered
to clean and paint the premises.
NEW BUSINESS
Election of officers will take place at the next meeting on
Monday, November 17.
