The meeting was called to order at 7 30 P.M.
PRESENT; Mike Weed, Karen @se& Carl Wauer, Dick Arrowood, Tom Raimann, Paul Ussel, Fred Baewer,
and Jackie St. Mary.
The minutes were approved as mailed.
PERSONAL APPEARANCES
A group of citizens from the end of Lochrest Boulevard
near the Lassa property attended the meeting to request
that the aforementioned piece of land, roughly 50' x 800',
be left in its natural state. The land in question is owned by the city. However, it is used by the neighborhood
as a recreational site. A property owner in the.area has made a request to the city to purchase some of the lot
in order to use it for construction of a garage. Plan Commission has asked for a directive on whether or not
the land would be used and should be saved for future use by the neighborhood. After discussion, Mike Weed moved to recommend to the Plan Commission that the pro- perty be left in its natural state for use. The motion
was seconded by Carl Wauer and carried.
OLD BUSINESS
Baseball field scheduling for the 1980 season was discussed.
Ron Ford was present representing the Women's Softball
League and requested that Diamonds II and III at Mill Valley
be scheduled for them. Karen Wesell, after Board discussion,
moved to have the Senior Boys play at Mill Valley III under the lights and to allow the Women's Softball program to have their choice of Jensen, Kurth, and the High School.
The motion was seconded by Tom Raimann and carried. Those
voting in favor of the motion were Wauer, Wesell, and Raimann. Paul Ussel then moved to allow the request for the use
of Mill Valley II, Jensen, Kurth and the High School by the Women's League to be passed. Wauer seconded the motion and same carried unanimously.
Karen Wesell moved to offer the Cub Scout Pack 76 Tuesday
nights at Kurth and the motion was seconded by Paul Ussel.
The motion carried.
Tom Raimann then moved to approve the Men's Softball League
request for Wednesday night which is the same scheduling as
last year. Karen Wesell seconded the motion and it carried.

The Baseball Committee offered it's report. The MAA has made a request for umpires who would be under the control of the Parks and Recreation Department and that the Department
set up and take down all fields for the Senior and Junior
Boys teams. Karen Wesell moved to provide additional funds,
if available, for umpires, and Carl Wauer seconded. The stipulation was made that the MAA would administer their
own umpires. Before taking the vote to carry, Mike Weed
moved to amend same to allow only the $1700.00 and no addi-
tional money. However, the amended motion was dropped for
lack of a second. Vote was then taken on the original motion
and it carried, Those in favor were Karen Wesell, Carl Wauer,
and Paul Ussel. Those voting against were Mike Weed, and
Tom Raimann.
Paul Ussel moved to give the MAA extra baseball bats which
they have requested, and Karen Wesell seconded the motion.
Carried.
The question of purchasing nursery stock from the Lamb Nur-
sery was discussed and an inventory will be obtained, along
with the price of planting.
NEW BUSINESS
The contract with Waukesha County Department on Aging Food Program is to be the same as last year under Tri County
with the exception that we have the option to move the
site to another location if it interferes with other Recrea- tion programs. A motion to that effect was made by Paul
Ussel and seconded by Carl Wauer. The program is to be
held at Jensen Center with use as a senior citizen center.
Tom Raimann moved to recommend to the Council that the
contract for Bluhm Farm Phase 1 and 2 with David Schreiber,
not to exceed $lO,OOO.OO, be approved. The motion was
seconded by Karen Wesell and carried
The St. Leonard's Parish Festival Committee has requested the use of chairs, tables, and picnic tables for their
annual festival to be held July 27th and 28th. Mr. Wauer
moved that the department allow them the use of any equipment that is not in use at that time and Karen Wesell seconded.
The motion was carried with those in favor being Mr. Wauer, Ms. Wesell, Mr. Weed, and Mr. Ussel. Tom Raimann was opposed
to the motion.
. The purchase of equipment for the department was discussed
and the following motions made.
1. Record Player - Raimann moved to approve the 1155K-12 12" speakers and Wesell seconded. However, the motion
failed with those in favor being Wesell and Raimann and those opposed Weed, Wauer, and Ussel. Mike Weed then moved to approve the choice of the 1155K, 6 x 9

speakers. Mr. Wauer seconded and the motion carried.
The Finance Committee will be approached for additional
funds to cover the purchase.
Railroad ties - $2000.00 is budgeted. The cost from
Bliffert would be $1900.00 and the ties would be stored
in a fenced in area. The Board expressed concern over
the purchase of treated versus untreated and directed
the Director to check into the purchase of treated ties.
Simplicity Rototiller - A used demonstrater could be
obtained at a price of $800.00. It was decided to
go out for bids on this item.
Signs and Router - The budgeted amount for the purchase
of a router and either redwood or fir for signs is $1000.00. Mr. Wauer moved to buy a Router at a price $QOO.OO/Wood
$100.00 or no greater than the budgeted amount, and Mr. Ussel seconded the motion which was then carried.
Sweeper - The price of a sweeper would be $1275.00.
Since the budgeted amount is $1000.00 and the Sand
Pro in the department's possession at the present time
is not adequate, the possibility of trading in the
Sand Pro to make up the difference was noted. However,
Tom Raimann moved to put the sweeper out for bids and Karen Wesell seconded the motion which was carried.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT
The Director presented a request by the Muskego Summer
Theatre to use Jensen Center on Saturdays from Noon until
6 P.M., from January 26th through June 7th, on a free use basis. Board approval was given.
A varsity baseball tournament will be held at Oak Creek.
There is a $50.00 entry fee. Personal transportation will
be provided by the players. This event was not included
in the budget and therefore, Mr. Ussel moved for approval
of a request by the Director to take money out of the $1600.00
budgeted for equipment to cover this event in July. The motion
was seconded by Karen Wesell and carried.
The possibility of the varsity ball players going out to
request donations to fund new uniforms was introduced and same was given the ok by the Board.
The Rifle Club program still does not have an instructor and whether or not to keep the rifles which require payment of a bond, was discussed. Mr. Ussel moved to pay the $40.00
for bonding and to keep the rifles for future possible use. The motion was seconded by Karen-Wesell and carried.
The hiring of Coleen Weber as swimming instructor at a
rate of $4.00/hr to replace Erin Rosenberg was put in a motion by Paul Ussel and seconded by Karen Wesell. Carried.

$5200.00 in revenue has been taken in during Spring Program
registration.
The Soccer Program will be starting with indoor sessions.
The Boys Basketball Program has started at the High School
on Saturdays with an added section for high school students.
The department policy on registration in the past has been
a first come, first serve basis. Of late there has been
a problem of few openings. However, the Board recommended
that the department stay with the first come, first serve
policy.
MISCELLANEOUS
Paul Ussel expressed concern over a problem with access
into the high school being very easy to accomplish. There
have been problems with control previously and the matter
will be further looked into.
Baseball coach applications will be put out to the general
public.
Approval was given to Jackie St. Mary, Recreation Supervisor,
to attend the Fieldwork Interaction Day at Lacrosse on
February 5th and 6th.
Approval was given to the Director to go ahead with laying
out the four fields at Bay Lane. A plan will be submitted
to the School Board stating what will be done The cost
for rental of equipment is as follows 30 HP Bobcat, 55"
blade, $90.00 per day - 60 HP Bobcat, 66" blade, $125.00
per day. Ball mix (35 yards) per field will be $255.00 for a cost of $1020.00 for the four fields.
Applications will be taken to fill the part-time secretarial
(19 hour) position for the department and at the next meeting
there will be a review of the Director's recommendations
regarding the applicants.
Paul Ussel moved to approve payment of bills as submitted. Karen Wesell seconded and the motion carried
Karen Wesell moved to adjourn to Executive session at 11.45 P.M.
and Mike Weed seconded. Carried Meeting adjourned
