PARKS & RECREATION BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, AUGUST 18, 1980
The meeting was called to order by Mike Weed at 8 00 PM.
PRESENT Mike Weed, Karen Wesell, Carl Wauer, JoAnn Kehl
ABSENT Tom Raimann, Richard Arrowood
LATE ARRIVAL' Richard Manchester (8 57 PM.)
The minutes of the last meeting were amended to read that
"St. Leonard's returned the borrowed chairs on July 30th
instead of July 28th as requested". Minutes were then approved as amended.
PERSONAL APPEARANCES
The Board had received a request from Terry Reiske to use
Idle Isle Park for a picnic on August 23rd. He wanted the ski show to perform for the picnic. Carl Wauer made
a motion to deny the request. JoAnn Kehl seconded the motion.
All in favor, motion carried.
Norm Janiszewski, representing the M.A.A. appeared before the Board with a request to store their baseball equipment at
Lions Park. Carl Wauer made a motion to let the Muskego Athletic Association store their equipment in the building at
Lions Park, with the understanding that the City of Muskego is not liable. The motion was seconded by JoAnn Kehl. All
in favor, motion carried.
Three gentlemen (Harry Bennett, Robert F. Schaefer, James O'Neil)
who live near Idle Isle Park, were present to inform the Board
that a sign was taken from the park. They further informed the Board that people were still fishing in the channel area, and
also urinating along the channel.
Mr . Dave Miller appeared requesting the use of Mill Valley
Diamond No. 3 for Monday, September 8, 1980, at 7 30 P.M.
Carl Wauer made a motion to let the Icetronauts use Diamond No. 3 on the requested date and time. Motion was seconded by
Karen Wesell. All in favor, motion carried.
Richard Manchester made a motion to okay the use of all the
portable bleachers available,for the Icetronauts Snowmobile
Club, for their annual tractor pull on September 6th and 7th, 1980. Same is to be done with the understanding that the club is
responsible for any and all damage. The motion as seconded
by Carl Wauer, passed with 4 in favor and 1 against.

The next personal appearance before the Board was that of Alderman Knudsen, representing Michael Nowitzke, with a request to purchase a portion of the park property adjacent to his on
Lochcrest Boulevard. Richard Manchester moved, seconded by Karen Wesell, to stand on a previous motion not to sell any
of this park property. The motion passed with 4 in favor and 1 against.
A request from Republic, Dau Paint and Wallpaper Company to
use Idle Isle Park on Sunday, August 31, 1980, including a permit for beer and the use of electricity. A motion was
made by Karen Wesell to deny the request. The motion was seconded by Richard Manchester and carried with all in favor.
DEPARTMENT REPORTS
Parks
Peter Theis, the Parks Supervisor, reported that there is no
money in Account 3311 for garage winterization.
He also reported that there are enough bleachers and benches at the shop for one ball diamond.
Jerry Lee has requested 25 tables for the 1980 VFWCountry Fair Days and Chuck Damaske has requested 4. Richard Manchester
made a motion to give them the use of these tables for this occasion providing the two individuals move the tables themselves,
and that they are to accept all responsibility in case of damage. Should they want the Parks Department staff to move the tables,
they would have to pay for this service. The motion was seconded by JoAnn Kehl and passed with 4 in favor and 1 against.
Recreation
Work continues on the float! We can use some help!
The program brochures should be out by the second week of September, with our Fall/Winter/Spring programs.
OLD BUSINESS
Soccer Program--After discussion on the merits and interest
shown in the soccer program, JoAnn Kehl made a motion to run
the soccer program and to charge $3.00 per player with all
proceeds to be used to run the program. Carl Wauer seconded
the motion and the motion carried with all in favor.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion was made by R. Manchester to adjourn the meeting at
lo:47 PM and seconded by Karen Wesell. Motion carried. The
next meeting date is Monday, September 15th at 7 30 PM.
