PRB042880minutesMINUTES PARKS & RECREATION BOARD SPECIAL MEETING, APRIL 28, 1980 The meeting was called to order by our chairman, Mr. Arrowood, at 7:40 P.M. PRESENT: Mr. Arrowood, Mr. Weed, Mr. Manchester, Mrs. Wesell, and Mr. Wauer. ABSENT: Mr. Raimann, Mr. Ussel. Minutes of the previous meetings were approved as mailed. PERSONAL APPEARANCES Mr. Dean Johnson, Muskego Athletic Association, was present regarding a request for the use of a diamond to use their pitching machine on May 10, 17, and 24. They will make arrangements with Jackie. (Arrangements made on Tuesday for Horn on May 10 and Mill Valley No. 3 on May 17 and May 24.) It was explained to the M. A. A. that there are no bats available for them. It was also mentioned by a representative of the M. A. A. that Mr. Bennett of the Big Muskego Gun Club has available (approximately 13 incandescent) lights that the department could have to possibly use on baseball diamonds. Mr. Bud Dreyfus, representing the women's softball league, with a request for a tournament: Mr. Manchester moved to approve the request from the women's softball league to hold a tournament on July 19 and 20, from 9:00 A.M.-6:OO P.M., at Mill Valley Diamonds No. 1 and No. 3. The motion was seconded by Karen Wesell and carried. Alderman Wayne Radtke, representing citizens living in the area of Hardtke and Muskego Drives, concerning teenagers abusing Idle Isle Park: The Board will research the rules and ordinances and make the necessary requests to the Police Department. There was a request from Joe Jender for extra time on Tuesdays at Muskego Elementary diamond for expansion of their M. A. A. co-ed softball league. Motion was made by M. Weed to accept their request, seconded by R. Man- chester, and the motion carried. MINUTES, PARKS & RECREATION BOARD'S SPECIAL MEETING, APRIL 28, 1980, PAGE 2 PERSONAL APPEARANCES (CONTINUED) Motion was made by Michael Weed to accept Paulette Miller's request for the Icetronauts to use Kurth Park for raindates on Tuesdays until the Cub Scouts start, seconded by R. Manchester. Motion carried. PARK UP-DATE Peter Theis, Parks Foreman, presented the following tip-date on the parks: Baseball Field Preparation: Mill Valley No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 - rototill, sink base pegs, realign home plates, erect fence and foul poles. Jensen Kurth High School - rototill, base pegs, foul poles. - rototill, base pegs. - rototill, base pegs, fill in foot- ball lines. Horn - keep watered, rototill, fence maintenance, scoreboard maintenance, clean up Hummer's mess, reseed, l landscape area torn up by monument. Individual Park Maintenance: Lions - Shaded area to be constructed around building. - Playground equipment maintenance (ropes). -basketball pole - teather ball pole Horn - Building maintenance. - rain gutters, downspouts, shingles, paint, window molding, glass replaced, garage door repairs, drinking fountain Jensen - Put up baseball net. - Playground maintenance. -basketball backboard - Finish painting chimney. - Thirty-two yards of baseball mix to be put on diamond. IDLE ISLE - Color coat around building. - Install boat piers. - Repair gatehouse. - Lifeguard stand needs work. - Swimming lines put otit. - Sailboat launch cable put up. - Some building maintenance. - rain gutters, downspouts - Drinking fountain. - Bridge railing repair. SCHMIDT - Playground maintenance. - teeter totter - benches repaired - Tree watering (45). New park benches are to be installed at Kurth and Schmidt Parks. Benches, tables, and chairs at City Hall, including landscaping of checker board and finish painting checker board. Daily garbage runs and pick-ups. Turf care as there was a great deal of spring damage at Idle Isle and Jensen. Cutting of park areas as required. It was suggested to Pete to get an estimate on a transmission cooler pan for '78 pick-up truck. R. Manchester moved to okay the bills, seconded by M. Weed, and the motion carried. MISCELLANEOUS The Board received a request from an Eagle Scout to do a project for the department. Pete will be directed to find a job for him to do. Review of Bills Motion was made by Karen Wesell to pay the bills, seconded by R. Man- chester. Motion carried. Discussion of Department Structure Carl Wauer made a motion to accept the reviewed job descriptions and proceed to discuss this with Jackie and Pete. Motion was seconded by M. Weed and carried. R. Manchester made a motion to give a copy of the revised job descriptions to Jackie and Pete and discuss their thoughts with them. It was seconded by Michael Weed and carried. Next Meeting Next meeting will be Monday, May 12, 1980, at 7:30 P.M. ADJOURNMENT Mr. Weed made a motion to adjourn, seconded by K. Wesell. Motion carried and meeting adjourned at 10:00 P.M.
