PRB062579minutesPARKS & RECREATION BOARD SPECIAL MEETING - June 25, 1979 (Called by Mayor Gottfried) PRESENT Mayor Gottfried, Members of the LMLA, Park & Rec- reation Board Members. The LMLA reviewed the conditions set forth on May 21st, and expressed concern on the the various items regarding the Fun Fest. 1.) Parking on the grass - This will be decided upon by the Park and Recreation Director and the LMLA, the day of set-up. 2.) Boat Launching - Open til noon on Saturday and Sunday only. 3.) Closing time of park and beer tent - This is being referred to what the city ordinance states. 4.) Placement of tents - LMLA requested set-up on parking lot surface. All these points were discussed by both sides. Both pro and con were brought up. Motion was made by Paul Ussel to reconsider the LMLA requests and seconded by Mike Weed. The motion carried. It was also pointed out that the Park Board is not against the LMLA actions for fund raising for the dredging of Little Muskego Lake. The Parks & Recreation Board gave approval of the sole use of Idle Isle on July 13, 14, and 15, but voted not to approve the request for monies for the various items (rental of toilet, fireworks, bussing), because no monies were budgeted in the 1979 budget for such expenditures. It was also pointed out that the Parks Department would help in the delivery of additional garbage drums, and additional picnic tables, to Idle Islet for the weekend. Paul Ussel made the motion to change the next Parks & Recreation Board meeting from July 9th, to July 2, 1979. Motion was seconded by Karen Wesell, and carried. At 9 PM, Dick Manchester moved to adjourn and Paul Ussel seconded. Meeting adjourned. WlSZ 58200 RP.ClNE AYENUE . MUSKEGO. WISCONSIN 53150 June 22, 1979 TO: MEMBERS OF THE PARKS & RECREATION BOARD FROM: MAYOR GOTTFRIED REr MUSKEGO FUNFEST As you well know, the Muskego Funfest being planned by the Little Muskego Lake Association has created a considerable amount of controversy Your Board has met with members of the Lake'Association Committee in an attempt to solve some of the p'roblems. As a result of those meetings your Board took several specific actions which included, among other things, closing hours, use of the boat launch and use of the grass for parking. As a result of those decisions there is a growing feeling amongst the 400 some odd numbers of the lake association that the city, through its Parks and Recreation Board, is acting unreasonable and is over-protective of, Idle Isle. In order to allay those fears and perhaps restore the mutual understanding of the needs and goals of the lake association as well as the responsibilities of the Board'to all the citizens of the community I am calling a special meeting of the Park Board for Monday night, June 25, 1979 at 7:30 P.M. I am acutely aware of the time you spend in your stewardship of our city parks and I have deliberated a long time before asking you to put in one more evening, however, I think that it is essential that we meet to clear the air and I urge you to attend if at all possible. / Fred Baewer
