PRESENT Dick Arrowood, Dick Manchester, Karen Wesell,
Tom Raimann, and Carl Wauer.
The minutes were approved as mailed.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
The Director presented an update on the LMLA Fun Fest. (See attached) Some of the matters discussed were the fact
that two young people were fined $25.00 for skidding out and
damaging sod, a problem with the toilet facilities and the
fact that there was a problem with watering where heavy use of the grass occurred.
NEW BUSINESS
Roger Johnson, a developer of Marlan Meadows requests an
easement area in access of outlot #1 for placement of a
well and building. Pictures were provided by Mr. Johnson
of proposed building designs and the fact was noted that
water can be used by the city from hydrants as needed
Mr. Manchester moved to recommend to the Common Council the
granting of a non-exclusive easement for a well and building (8 x 8) on the park access site. Easement to be between
lots 12 and 13. Motion seconded by Tom Raimann. Mr. Wauer
then amended the motion to include the fact that the land- scaping and building plans be approved by the Parks &
Recreation Board. Seconded by Karen Wesell. Motion and
amendment carried.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT
The availability of the old Sandy Beach (Howe Beach) which
is being offered for sale by Robert Klenz was discussed. Mr. Arrowood will check with the mayor regarding details
of the offer, however there was not much interest expressed regarding that land. Suggested to refer to the Parks~ Com-
prehensive Plan.
This Friday, July 27th, the playgrounds will hold their MD
carnival. It was announced that Howard and Rosemary Gernette
would make an appearance and possible National exposure
might result.
Mr. Baewer stated that the Varsity and Junior Varsity Dinner would be held on July 26th. The season records were -

some recognition be given the two coaches for the good
season. Fred was instructed to write a resolution following
city guidelines.
Mr. Baewer informed the Board that the Public Works Department
is helping on jobs that can't be handled by the Parks Department
equipment. Mr. Manchester moved that Fred send a letter to
the Public Works Director thanking them for the help they have given the Department in the past seven months. Motion
was seconded by Mr. Wauer and carried.
The purchase of a welder/generator was discussed. Same has
not been purchased yet and Fred is to draw up specifications.
The Director discussed the problem present at Idle Isle
regarding the lack of pump pressure. Allen's Pump Service
has been called out and a new pump (l/2 H.P.) has been
installed. However, the well is now dry and possibly clogged
at the bottom. Acker will be coming out to check the well
and to try to clear it. There was no water last weekend
which was a busy one. Portable toilets were ordered until
the problem is cleared up. It was recommended that the
water be tested after the problem is resolved.
Budgeting was discussed and the Director suggested that the
Parks & Recreation Board tour the Parks garage to look at the equipment. A new engine has been put in the Toro at
a cost of $1400.00. Problems still exist with the radiator
in the Jacobson and the clutch in the Simplicity.
A July 30th date was set for a tour of the Parks and garage. The tour starts at 6 P.M.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:55 P.M.
Next meeting date will be August 13th, 1979 at 7:30 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
