PRB051877minutesPARK & FiECRETION BOARD - CITY OF MUSKEGO Minutes of meeting on nay 18, 1977. As a quorum was not present at 7:30 P.R., the meeting was called to order by President Arrowocd at 8:55 P.M. PRESENT: President Arrowood Director Pischke Hr. Ron Ford Mr. C. J. Dahlen Mr. Bruce Fmgmann PIERS AT IDLE ISLE Dahlen moved that the Delweld Piers be awarded the bid for the pier at Idle Isle at a total cost of $2.594.00. Seconded by Ford. PASSED LAWCON PROJECT Dahlen moved that the board proceed with the project at Jensen and Schmidt Parks including the underground wiring at Jensen. Seconded by Ford. PASSED SCHUBRING LAUNCH SITE AND LOT Dahlen moved that Director Pischke write the D h R asking whether or not the board could put gravel ramps into the Little Muskego Lake at the Schubring and Emerald sites. Seconded by Engmann MOTION FAILED LITTLE MUSKEGO LAKES ASSOCIATION Dahlen moved that the Little Muskego Lakes Association be granted use of Idle Isle on June 25th and 26th for a fund raising event and that the director is to designate parking area, swimming area and necessary park rules and regulations and that the association will pay all required fees. Seconded by Engnan PASSED SCWBRING DRIVE Engmammoved that a letter be sent to residents of Schubr+ng area explaining why the board is not going to proceed at this time with the ramps. Seconded by Ford PASSED TENNIS COURT LIGHTING AT HIGH SCHOOL Director Pischke is going to get prices for installing a wide area lighting at the tennis courts in lieu of the concentrated lighting previously speced. Lawcon will approve a different kind of lighting. CONSULTANT FEES Consultant fees will be approved by project rather than as a long term. Some members had problems with the high percentage rate the consultant is charging on certain projects. DEDICATION OF LAKES The Ruskego Athletic Association is having a dedication ceremony at the Rill Valley Complex on June 6, 1977. The president of the Park & Recreation Board will be part of the program. A copy of the program is attached. e PAGE TWC - Park a Recreation Board Ainutes FEES FOR USE OF LIGHT AT MILL VALLEY Director Pischke is going to contact other areas and committees concerning the usage charge for lightsto be used as a guide for the board for next year's softball season. SCOREBOARD - HORN FIELD St. Francis Saving's and Loan is following through with the purchase of a scoreboard which should arrive in a few weeks. The city departments are cooperating in putting the board into use. PARKING AT HILL VALLEY Parking appears to be a real problem at Mill Valley. The School Board and the City are getting many complaints. The city and the School Board are looking at the possibility of paving the present lot. The Park & RecredionRoard membedstill feel the development of the parking area off Racine Avenue isstill desirable in addition to blacktopping of the present parking area. KINGSTON WILL l Director Pischke is to investigate the cost of a pool and report back to the board. Something must be done concerning approximately $50,000 the Kingston will dictates for the Muskego Athletic Association to build a pool. Perhaps the pool could be funded under LAWCON making the $50,000 worth $100,000. More on this later. THE JEEP Director Pischke appeared before the finance committee and received permission to have the jeep transmission repaired. The cost is not know at this time. FREEDOM SQUARE PROPRRTY Engmammoved~that we rent the Freedom Square Property to Mr. Richard Schaumberg for the sum of $180.00 from June 1, 1977 through May 31, 1978. Seconded by Ford PASSED FIELDRACK CONSTRUCTION COMPANY Ford moved to authorize the payment of $2,971.55 to the Fieldhack Construction Company for work at Mill Valley complex. Seconded by Engman PASSED This still leaves approximately 5% to be paid out when all conditions are met. ELECTION OF OFFICERS Definitely bs held at the regular meeting in June. DIP.KCTCR'S REPORT a The sailing program was approved by the finance cormnittee and will be funded by the city. The summer program brochures have been delayed but should be out shortly. Director Pischke reports that maintenance is moving along. The crews are catching UP. There are presently 5 men aboard for the summer months- PAGE THREE - Park & Recreation Board Minutes The Muskego Rifle Club took first place in the rifle ccmpetitiion, Congratulations should be sent to the sponsor. THE NEXT MEETING IS ON MONDAY, JUNE 13, 1977 at 7:30 P.R. Ford moved for adjournment to executive session at lo:40 P.R.
