PERSONAL APPEARANCES were made by:

Mr. and Mrs. Udick, and their neighbors appeared requesting the
Parks and Recreation Department clean up the 30 ft. right of way
to the Lake Lot at the end of Michi Drive. They would also like
the boundaries surveyed and are wondering if it could be a picnic
area with swimming off the end of Park Drive (fire lane). The
Parks & Recreation Department agreed to survey and clean up the
right of way.
Kevin Niezgoda presented a Boy Scout Eagle Project. He would
like to erect flag poles at four of the ball diamonds; Horn, Jensen,
Kurth, and Mill Valley. Two types of drawings of the type of poles
proposed were presented at'a cost of approximately $800.00 for the
four poles. Supplies would run approximately $70.00 - $80.00.
a Mr. Yahr appeared on hehalf of the Little Muskego Yacht Club,
requesting the use of Idle Isle for the Midwest M-Scow District
Regata to be held July 14-16, in 1978. He also requested the use
of the job crane, launching facilities, and the building, in case
of bad weather. The park facilities will not be closed to other
people.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Raimann moved to approve the School Board's addendum to the lease
of the Mill Valley School Property if the Parks and Recreation
Department can cover the cost of seal coating the existing parking
lot, and if parking can be restricted on Hillendale by the Public
Safety Commission. Seconded by Dahlen PASSED
David Schreiber and Associates presented three different types of
pools: outdoor, indoor, and convertable. Plans and figures are
in a letter to the City. Steve Pischke presented a plan of the area
around City Hall. Ronald Ford would like to get a topographical map
of the total land area owned by the City in the City Hall area so
that an area for a swimming pool can be found. Pischke agreed to a get a map of the area.

Horn Park
Ford moved to recommend that the contract with David Schreiber &
Associates for the development and planning for Horn Park be approved
by the Common Council. Seconded by Weed PASSED
Plans for Parks
Raimann moved to approve Concept A, as presented by David Schreiber
& Associates for Horn Park. There is a hold on the master plan of
the park itself. Seconded by Weed PASSED
Raimann also moved to approve Concept B for Jensen Park as presented
by David Schreiber & Associates for a parking lot, play area, and
land scaping. Seconded by Engman PASSED ,
Engmann moved to approve the p.lans and specs for
the tennis -courts. Seconded by Raimann PASSED
Ford moved to have a bounding'board placed as an

all to be further discussed at a later date.)

DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Steve Pischke reported that one man has been hired through the CETA
Program.
The Recreation Department's tennis lessons are looking good and it
was reported that they may need another instructor in the future.
They had their first team tennis meet last Friday, July 8.
Swimming lessons,. now in the second week, were first being held in
the pool starting this week with lessons running twice a day.
The playground attendance for this year is low, but gymnastics, sail-
ing, and adult running are progressing well.
The crew working for the Parks Department is on the 4 & 40 schedule.
They like it better, and are able to complete more work. They still
have the problem of having only one vehicle.
Holz Island, an Eagle Scout Project, as submitted in writing, is a
project designed to help stop the existing erosion problem which
now exists on Island.
Ford moved to deny the request of the MAA for storage space at
Kurth Park. Seconded by Engman PASSED

Engman moved to approve the Park Maintenance Foreman's request for a
two week leave of absence. Seconded by Weed PASSED
Miscellaneous
Dedication of the new scoreboard at the Horn
will be on July 17, at 1:15 P.M.
Park Baseball Diamond
It was decided that the pier system from Idle Isle would be put to
use, and not sold.
Minutes were approved from the meeting of June 13, 1977.
The Board denied the request of Kevin Niezgoda :to erect flag poles
at the four diamonds..
Ford moved to approve the request of the Little Muskego Yacht Club
for the use of Idle Isle for the Regata to be held July 14-16, in
1978. Seconded by Engman. Amendment by Dahlen to charge $25.00
for the group. Seconded by Raimann PASSED Motion PASSED
Ford mentioned that there should be a sign at Idle Isle and also
that boating regulations must be posted in the launch area.
Next meeting date to be set by David Schreiber & Associates,
according to their availability.

PERSONAL APPEARANCES were made by:
Mrs. Ann Matz appeared on behalf of the Reach Organization,
requesting the Parks & Recreation Department to offer special
swimming classes~ for children with visual perception problems.
She thought about ten or fifteen to a class with the need for
more than one instructor, or possibly the parents assisting.
She also requested that the Board look into a tumbling class.
They have about sixty elementary children in thetr program.
