PRB080177minutesPARKS & RECREATION BOARD - CITY OF MUSKEGO * Minutes of meeting on August 1, 1977 PRESENT: Mr. Tom Raimann Mr. Bruce Engman Mr. Michael Weed Mr. Richard Manchester Mr. Richard Arrowood Director Steve Pischke The minutes of the July 11, 1977 meeting were approved. PERSONAL APPEARANCES were made by: Robert Burgermeister would like Mill Valley Ball Diamond Complex for the Muskego Slow Pitch Tournament. It was decided that park- ing would not be a problem. Manchester moved to approve the 32 team tournament on August 26 through the 28th, (during the Muskego Country Fair Days) subject to School Board approval. Seconded by Engman PASSED Kevin Niezgoda appeared presenting an Eagle Project. He would like to erect flag poles at two parks, (Horn and Jensen) with the approximate cost of $150.00. There is a donation of $100.00. Weed moved to come up with $50.00 from the Parks & Recreation a- Department. Seconded by Engman. Manchester moved to have the motion amended that the Park Board pay any amount up to $100.00. Motion and amendment PASSED Nancy Refling appeared to compliment the Board on the condition of the Horn Park Baseball Field. UNFINISHED BUSINESS David Schreiber reported on development plans for three parks. Horn - blacktop area Jensen - parking area, play area, & landscaping Schmidt - tennis courts. - Engman moved to have the courts green with a red border. Seconded by Arrowood PASSED (Bounding board as an alternate) Raiman moved to send out the plans for bids as presented. Seconded by Weed PASSED Arrowood moved to olace the bounding board at 90' to court. Seconded~ by Engman PASSED L Open bids on Thursday, September 8, 1977 at 7:30 P.M. Construction to start September 19, 1977. * Mill Valley Parking - the cost will be $3.,200.00 from a contractor. It was thought that the City could do it for half the cost. i PAGE 'IWO - Parks & Recreation Board Meeting NEW BUSINESS Muskego Athletic Association Manchester moved to approve the M.A.A.' s request to sell consessions at the All-Star Games provided the area is cleaned up afterward. Seconded by Weed PASSED 3 Year Capital Budget Discussion on the Budget was deferred until the August 22nd meeting for review by the Board members. DIRECTOR'S REPORT Steve Pischke reported that two people have been hired through the CETA Program. They are presently painting at Idle Isle. The roof there is in poor condition and leaking. The building janitor at Horn Park has been discontinued due to the drop in building usage there. The concert at Idle Isle Park has been postponed until August 6th & 7th, due to the wet grounds. The Little Muskego Lake Association will.be using Idle Isle for approximately 60 - 100 hydroplanes. They will be using the lake lots for parking. Pischke received a letter from President Floyd Ladd of the Muskego Athletic Association concerning the consumption of beer at the baseball/softball games. It was reported that there is a need for 200 railroad ties for Idle Isle Park. The ties must be bought in lots of 250 with Grade 1 @ $5.90 and Grade 2 @ $4.90. Total $1,475 Net $1,180 The Oshkosh Park System will pick up the other 50 ties. Raimann moved to go to the Finance Committee for approval to purchase 250, Grade 2 railroad ties @ $4.90 each. Seconded by Manchester PASSED A letter was received from the law firm of Murphy & Murphy, concerning Horn Park. ‘. I, ‘i i PAGE THREE - Parks & Recreation Board Meeting a MISCELLANEOUS There was an article in the Milwaukee Jouranl concerning the fees at Idle Isle Park.
