PARK & RECREATION BOARD - CITY OF MUSKEGO
Rinutes of meeting on April 11, 1977 ,'
Due to the fact that we did not have a quorum, the meeting was
not called to order until S:45 P.M.
Present at 7:30 P.M. to hear report by Floyd Ladd and Al Saronowski
of the Muskego Athletic Association were:

Mr. Pischke, Director ur. Dah~len
MK. Ladd reported that they have had to turn away many children
this year from the baseball program. There will be at least an
additional 14 teams and a need for 3 additional diamonds. This
should be discussed at our next meeting. Also, Mr. Ladd and Steve
Pischke will prepare a program for the dedication of the diamonds
at Mill Valley.
At B:40 P.M., Ron Ford arrived and the meeting was called to order.
Al-. Engman arrived shortly thereafter.
JENSEN CENTER
Director Pischke related the possible suit by the developer because
our fire escape and parking area are encroaching on ?his property.
We do have the possibility of condemning that land for city purposes. ,
Dahlen moved, seconded by Manchester, that we support the
condemnation suit by the city. Passed
BASEBALL TEAMS
Jack Refling has been hired to coach the Land of Lakes team.
ADULT MENS SOFTBALL PROGRAM
The team from Salentine's is playing in a New Berlin league this
year. They thank us for our concern and request they be permitted
to play in the Muskego leagues next year.
LAWCON PROJECT
Director Pischke gave a breakdown of the various projects for which
requests for funds have been submitted to Lawcon. A lump sum amount
was included for architects fees. Dah~len moved, seconded by Aanchester,
that the architect fees be broken down by project. Passed
Dahlen moved that we receive assurances in writing from Dave Schreiber
Associates that we will be charged only for those projects approved
by Lawcon for architect fees. Seconded by Aanchester. Pas'sed
ELECTION OF BOARD OFFICERS
Dahlsn moved to table election of officers Until the next meeting
as the entire board was not present. Seconded by Ford. Passed
SURMER RECREATION PROGRAMS
Director Pischke outlined the summer programs for this year.
The playground programs were the equivalent of 3-l/2 sites.
They are l/2 day at Horn Field and Muskego Elementary, 1 day
at Tess Corners and Jewel Crest, and l/2 day at Durham Hill.
High School Program - This past year we have been charging 25C
per week or $3.00 for a pass for High School students. This will
be continued.
Tennis - Last year the charge was $5.00, this year it will be $7.50
for adults and children. That is the equivalent of 30 hours
instruction time.
Swimming - In the past, swimming lessons were given for a $3.00
registration fee. Dahlen moved that swimming registration fees
be kept at $3.00, seconded by Arrowood, Rotion Lost
Manchester moved the fees be raised from $3.00 to $4.00, seconded
by Arrowood, Rotion Lost
Ford moved to reconsider the motion to raise the fees to $4.00.
Seconded by Ranchester. Passed
Ford moved to raise the fees from $3.00 to $4.00. Seconded by
Ranchester. Passed Dahlen asked to be recorded as voting no.
Director Pischke reviewed the rest of the programs for the summer.
A new tennis program - a round robin participation will be
introduced. All costs are to be borne by participants. There will
be gymnastics and tumbling program - 3 days a week for 6 weeks.
Registration - $5.00. The program will be selfsupporting.
Sailing Program - Director Pischke would like to promote sailing
classes, however, there is no money available in the present budget.
The Little Ruskego Lakes Yacht Club is offering use of the sailing
vessels and pickup boats free along with some volunteer help.
Ranchester moved we request $200.00 from the finance committee to
make this program possible. Seconded by Ford. Passed
Summer - The summer program will be published in
both the Sun and the Post.
Idle Isle Piers - Director Pischke was directed to seek bids for the
installation of piers at Idle Isle.
Insurance for Baseball Teams - Manchester moved that from 1978 on,
the City of Auskego will not provide insurance for players in the
baseball programs and for the year 1977, the city will provide a
$500.00 deductible policy for the Land of Lakes team and first dollar
coverage for varsity, jr. varsity, and county puddles. Seconded by
Ford. Passed
SCHMIDT PARE - Alderman Pinkas appeared before the board requesting
on behalf of a constituent, the removal of a sign saying "Schmidt Park"
at the corner of Saroyan and Conrad. After a lengthy discussion,
Engman moved we paint the sign. Seconded by Aanchester. Passed

a PARK & RECREATION CONFERENCE
In Madison on Aay 14th at the Holiday Inn. A conference
will be held for citizen members of park and recreation
boards. The fee is $7.00, registration is at 9:00 5.M.
If interested, please let Pischke know for combining rides.

SUMAER PERSONNEL - Director Pischke presented a summa.ry of the
people he would like to hire for the summer. After a discussion,
the board reconvened in open session.
