Minutes of meeting held May 19, 1975

The meeting was called to order by Director, Ron Ford at 7:50 P.M.
NEW BUSINESS:
Halqulst: Appeared to request more swimming lessons--Board assured her that these ~111 be more lessons--see Kangas report these same minutes.
Gerth: Appeared to complain about not being able to meet at Horn Field on their old established dates for the Muskego Rod & Gun Club--
Arrowood sugested that the club give MC Cullough the dates they
wsnt so that he can see that Horn is opened for them. MC Cullough
has slready made arrangements with thee Pigeon Club to accomodate
M.R.& G.Club.
Glesegh: Appeared to ask when the Mill Valley diamonds would be ready be-
csuse all leapues having trouble finding diamonds to use. Ford
l SuFpested thst s meeting be arranged with representatives from every
kind of baseball league to come up with a master schedule. Bea,tka
recommended puttinp. notice in pnper l/1/76 requl~rlng appllcatlons
for fields on 8 first come first served bases with a cut-off date
Giesegh further requested permission to hold a donkey baseball ga,me ':lth beer permitted and admission charged on a Sunday. Proceeds
would be put in a fund to be used only for lighting ball fl~elds ate Mill. Valley. They have insurance for players and will repair any damspe to field. Beatka, suggested Horn Field for this. Ford
sug-yested she should work out details with MC Cullough.
Hudson: Ap-leared to request additional money to bring the $350 bus fund up
to $500 for senior cltlzens. 45 meet regularly at his place. Ford
supgested come back in Oct. when we start to set budg,et and request
$500 for next year.
Schrelber: Appeared to go over phase I on the established plans for Mill
Valley, Kurth, Lions and Jensen Center.

Mill Valley: Ford told us that the Council. a,pproved 3 diamonds
for @31,203.85 wi,th each backstop @2700 to be defered until l/1/76. On enlarging fields to 75'
bases cost would be $,286?.00 for all three fields
including 25' radius infield which would double
Infield mix. Arrowood moved tha,t P&R recommend
that Council approve the addition of #2869 to enlarge the lnfleld to 75' bases, Krygier seconded--motion carried. Ford suggested change order so as not to
delay construction.

Board suggested that Schreiber look over needs and decide whats feasible and come up witb plans short
of msster plan.
Report--Idle Isle: stone wronS; planks not enough; boll-
ards wrong; gravel needs spreadinp; sand washed out and
in Seneral Forsyth not adherinp: to plans and specs.
Report--Schmidt: Seed is startinE to germinate, but
needs mulch; slides need brackets; teeter totter broken
and needs factory replacement; low area in skating
area needs a.ttention. Schreiber will call snd~ write
complaints on Idle Isle snd Schmidt to Forsyth.
Master Plan: At our next meeting O/l?/75 we must continue
the approval of Master Plan in order to be eligible
for Lawcon --very important!
Beach at Idle Isle: KrySler asked Schreiber to look into
kind of lake bottom improvement such pea crave1 or black plestic weighted
sand in order to enhance swimming a,t Isle, and discourage weeds at beach.

KANGAS REPORT: 467 c~hlldren are reSistered for swlmmlnS lessons. He is short about $50 to pay for an additional F.S.I. to staff l pool for an additional session from 1:OOP.M. to 4:CGP.M.
Ra.lmann moved, KryFler seconded to authorize Kangas to get additional swimming teacher--motion carried.
.Result of meeting between Arrowood, KanFas and school administration--school estimates that chemical costs will
be doubled by end of year; therefcre, school Is requestinS
#4CC/yr. instead of the ,$150/yr. they have been charring.
Since these figures are not In our budget the school will carry us for a year so that we can budget for increase in
1376 budpet.
Dlscusslon on pool maintenance by P&R--Ford moved, Raimenn
seconded to authorize MC Cullough to hire 2 people to clean the area dally--motion carried.
Discussion of staffing Idle Isle Beach--Ford moved, Arrowcod
seconded to authorize KanFas to So ahea~d with the staffing
of Idle Isle with life querds @2.25/hr. for head quards and
2.00/hr. for regular Suards--motion carried.

MC CulIouSh requested MUSKEGO MARINE to donate a rowboat
for P&R use at Idle Isle Beach. MUSKEGO MP.RINE will. do so.
Entire board gave round of applause.
Krygler moved, Ford seconded that KanEas & MC CullouSh work
together to purcha,se needed equipment for swimming at Idle
Isle--Motion carried.
Arroxood moved, Raimann seconded to quthorlze XanSes to send
playground recreation Sirls to workshop on Semes--motion

N. Life Sports: Ca:rried over from the 5/8/75 meeting--Xryrier explained that due to the hiyh school pocl being closed for repainting,
Euskepo Life Sports was obliged to buy pool time from the YMCA In Vaukesha ccstl~ng $240.00. Pool tj,me at this time is necessary in order to keep program going since the meets
start in early June ,and the big meet called Junior Olympics
Is June 28th. No coach in any sport would consider putting
a child in a meet without that child being conditioned.
Krygier moved, Ford seconded that P&R consider paying part or a.11 of the $240 cost of renting the YMCA pool--defeated.
