Director Ford clalled the meeting to order at 7:50 P.I.!. Present
were membors.Don Yabr. Ron Ford, Bob Gumleny. and Dick Arrowood.
Aloo in attendance wafi Park Supt. %cCulhough. Absent were Xolenda.
Haglund and Bartz.
There were no minutes for July 23rd meating avaflble so they were
held in abeyance.
Mr. Robert W. Kovnaskiy, Waukesha County Deputy Shariff and a Certi-
fied Judo Constructor appeared and requested permission to teach
Judo at the school for a Fall-Winter recreation FrOgram. He ex-
plained that the course for beginners is 1 hour per week. for a 10
week period, which iucludes basic Judo, falling and mat techniques.
:U!.s salary would be $15 per hour and the recommended charge for a
class of 50-60 vould be $2 to 3.00. This coursewould be almost
Self -supporting.
a Director Ford explained t’hat in the essence of time the Common
Council accepted the second lowest bid for drninage tile at the
Jensen Baseball field. Ue also raported on progress on Tennis Courts
at Jensen Center. The court has been blacktopped by Payne and Golan
and ia progressing satisfactory.
Director Ford axplained the expenditures incurred from 1973 Capital
Budget and the alterns~tiveo for the remainder of the year.
Motion by Don Yahr, seconded by Dick Arrowood, to reserve $lSOD.OO
from the 1973 Capital Budget for fixing existing ball diamonds nnd
outfield areas by putting in new dirt and filI holes, dragging
and reeeedfng. Thi,s work to be accomplished by Park Supt. MC-
Cullough. Motion carried.
President Yahr discussed the accident et Idle Isle Beech that
occurred during the Sailboat Regetto in wbicb an out of state
participant got his sail boat too close to electric power llnea and
was electrocuted and is hospitalized with severe burns. The inj ure,d
man is instituting a law suit against t!le City of Muskego and Little
Eluskego Yacht Club. He also discussed alternatives that would pre-
vent future accidents of the nature.
:!otion by Arrowood, seconded by Gumieny. to Icave Idle Isle open
and unattended after Labor Day. E!otion Amended by Ford, seconded l by Yahr to have an attendant only on weekends until October. The
motion, ss amended, carried.
Don Yahr proposed that the Park and Recreation Board buy a sling
for launching motor boats with a jib crane.2 It vas decided that
the Board will wait until a need arises before making tire purchase.
Don Yahr proposed sending R survey l&kteS to surrounding communities
I surveying their costs, requirements and utilizations of a full time
Park and Necreation Director. Following discussion, it WRB decided
that the City did not need a full time director at this time,and
the letter was cancelled.
The board approved a Picnic Permit for The Little Kuskego Yacht
Club for Aug. 26th at Idle Isle Beach. Moved by Arrowood, seconded
by Gumieny. Motlon carried.
Motion by Don Yahr, seconded by hrrowood, to allow Don Kangan, Rec-
reation Director to have Judo Classes for Fall program Kegistratico
and charges at his descretion. No discussion. Notion carrted.

Don Kangas arrived at 9:30 ,P.P!. and explalned the operation and
expenditures for the eummer recreation program. UC also.explained
fall flag football program which he will run if he gets 90-100
Interested boys. Motion by Yahr. seconded by Gumieny, to allow
Don Kangaa to run fall flag football program as he explained.
Motion carried.
Motion by Don Yahr, seconded by Arrowood, to pay the bills aa
presanted by Director Ford. Notion carried.
Notion by Yahr. seconded by Arrouood, to adjourn at 1O:OS. Motion
carried.
