Also present were Don #an&as, Bill Kolenda, Don McCullough and Mayor Gottfried. Ald. Ford joined the mQeting at S:30 P.M. Mr. Yahr reported that he recently toured Idle Isle Island and suggested the following repairs: (1) Main gate (2) All driveways need graVQ1 (3) Rid shorQlines of noxious weeds. Further discussion of Idle Isle brought out the need for the follow%ng BtQQS: (1) Mr. McCullough will securQ gate daffy during month of Aprfl. (2) CatQ- keepers must be advertised for and hired before Play 1, 1973. (3) Wr. Kanget w%ll recommend hours for life guards. He will also check on the cost of buoys, ropes ana markers. Mr. Yahr moved that the above spets bQ tak@n. Seconded by Mr. Piolenda. Motion carried. Mr. Kangas gave hfs r@QOrt on the fall-winter recreation nrogram: (1) Mr. Yahr suggest that Park and Ret send a letter to the School Board and principals thankfng them for the use of their facilities. (2) Mr. Kengas recommended the use of ID cars for controlling non-resfdent use of recreation programs. (3) Mr. Kangae recommended a fee of $1.00 or $1.50 for thQ Bay LanQ BasketbaLL bi?aguQ. (4) Hr. Rangas rQportQd on thQ recent grade school basketball taurnamQnt:. Trophy coats were $25.00. (5) Mr. Kangas recommended that the samQ programs be continued next winter and he reported that some requests had been received for ballroom dance lessons. Mr. Kangss presented the proposed Summer Recreation Program. Mr. Yahr moved to approve the program, seconded by Mr. Ford. Motion carried. Mr. Yahr moved to approvQ a launching fee of $1.50 for particfnants in the Championship RQgatta July 27 - 29thh, sponsored by the Little Muskego Lake Yacht Club. The fee will be for non-members of the Yacht Club and will be good for the entire weekend. The motion was seconded by Ald. Ford and carried. Aid. Ford moved to apnrovQ the Yacht Club's request to erect a tent on Idle 151s durllng the regatta. Seconded by Mr. Yahr, motPon carrfed. Yahr moved to hire the landscape architectural firm of Hugh Dega & Assocfates, Madison, Wisconsin, to do the following: (1) Prepare LAWCON applLcations for vark land scquisitfon fin Wards #6 and #7. (2) Prepare a vselfmfnsry site plan for Idle 181~ Island. Seconded by Ald. Ford, motion carried. (Note) It was the recommendation of the Land Acquisition Commfttee to hire thQ D~ga firm. Th@ committee also bntervfewed Dale WoltQ & Assocfates, Bales Corners and thQ St:fefvater and Simotti firms, both of Milwaukee. 4. Ald. Ford moved to authorize Dr. FIangiemele to QrenarQ comnletce nlane and sneciffcatfons for Schmidt Park at a cost not to exceed $1,180.00. Seconded by pr(r. Yabr, matton carried. 7. Ald. Ford moved to authorize the purchase of playground equipment for Idle Isle Island et an approximate cost of $750.00. Seconded by Mr. Yahr, motion carried. 8. Ald. Ford moved to authorize only the neceesary buildfng repairs to the Idle IuPe Haland building to make it operational. Seconded by MP, Yahr, motfon carried. 9. Hr. Yahr moved to authorize Mr. PicCulPough to begin constructing a PsunchPng semp for the Emerald Drive Lake Park. Mr. McCullough is to place &Q necessary gravel base for the remn also. Seconded by Ald. Ford, motion carried. 10, Ald. Ford moved to authorize the purchase of such necessary sand and gravel to make Idle psle Island operational. The ma eQrfefs will be hauled by the Public Works Dent. Seconded by Vr. Yehr, motion carrfed. 11. Ald. Ford suggested that a becks top overhang was needed for Horn Field to help prevent betted belle from falling onto adjacent homQ!s Y The matter was deferred until the next meeting. Ald. Ford will get prfccs. Mr. Yahr moved to authorize $E,700.00 for the operation of the Puddles baseball nrogram by ths Mu&ego Athletic AssocPatton. Seconded by Mr. Molenda, motion carried. Ald. Ford moved to accept the quotation of Re.Pfance Insurance Co. for insurence coverage for the baseball teams. Seconded by Mr. Holenda, motPon carried. Mr. Yahr read a leteer from wayor Gottfreed regarding the disaoaftion of city-owned lees in Founeainwood Subdivision. Action wes deferred until members can view the site.
