Present: Chairman Burgermeister, Mr. Molenda, Mr.$mieny, Mr. Washa, Mr. Yahr
and Mr. Schickowski
Also present was Mr. Beatka and Mr. Kangas
Meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M.
The Committee after discussion approved payment voucher of 5llb.00 to Mr. Al
Larsen to cover Baseball commitments.
Motion-Mr. Yahr; 2nd~Mr. Washa; carried, to accept bids for sewer connections
at Idle Isle and Jensen Park.
Motion-Mr. Schickowski; 2nd~Mr. Washa, carried after discussion to accept bids
for building at Kurth Park; Mr. Molenda voted against.
Chairman Burgermeister presented bids for fencing at Jensen. After discussion
it was decided to let the bids out again.
Mr. Washa discussed the Youth Center and a few of the problems. It was decided
to remove the vending machines and Juke Box and coin operated games. Mr.
Rurgermeister said he would get Juke Hex. Mr. Washa stressed the need for a
light at the rear of the building. Mr. Hurgermeister to make arrangements with
Power Co. Chaperons to be volunteer help or if needed will be paid 52.50 per
hour.
Mr. Yahr and Molenda will look at the new park area in Ward I and report back
to committee on best layout for playground, parking and ball diamond.
Mr. Beatka was hired to direct the baseball program at a salary of 51,200.OO
plus 5300.00 in coaching fees if needed.
Baseball program budget balance is 53,950.00, not including insurance. Monies
to be spent on equipment and umpire fees with all tournaments to be approved
by Baseball Commission or Park and Recreation committee.
Mr. Kangas presented the winter program at a cost of 52,980.OO. It was pointed
out that the budget called for 52,OOO.OO for the program but the swimming fees
would off set the overrun.
Mr. Yahr-motion; 2nd~Mr. Washa, carried that swim program be offered to all High
School age residents at a cost of 5.25 per night. Program would be on Tuesdays
from 7:00-9:00 P.M.
Mr. Kangas reported that Mr. R. Fahning has accepted the Saturday afternoon
Basketball program at Bay Lane with help from the High School varsity to assist.
Chairman Burgermeistcr will place ads in local papers for position of Park and
Maintenance Supervisor. Screening committee to meet February 10, 1972.
