PUBLIC APPEARANCE
Drone demonstration - Paul Vepraskas
Audio recording was stopped for the outdoor drone presentation.
REPORT FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT
Chief Rens reported the drone is up and running and has been utilized several times.
Body Cameras - Are on hold at this time as Panasonic is doing an upgrade so we are waiting
until that is complete.
Community Assistance - Local churches and Waukesha County Services have stepped up and
offered assistance to our citizens in need. Cards have been created and handed out to all the
officers who can pass on the information to citizens who may need assistance and don't have
the resources available to them.
NNO is on August 3, 2017.
Jammin’ On Janesville with a 5K run is on August 4, 2017.
The community festival is the weekend of August 25-27.
The department has been extremely busy this summer and hoping some of the activity slows
down.
Two people have been offered officers’ positions contingent upon passing the
psychological/physical and drug tests. The anticipated start date for both individuals would be
08/14/17.
Chief presented the commission with some paperwork he received at a conference reference
hiring of officers and how to look for virtues and character traits in a person. After a short
discussion the commissioners agreed that some of the questions they ask in their interview
process do look for these characteristics. Supervisors will be going to this conference, so they
too know what to look for in the qualities of a good officer and to encourage continuance of that
behavior.
The department's mock accreditation will take place on 08/11/17 and the real one is scheduled
for the end of September.
K9 Sirius has not been on the road as Officer Diedrich was injured on duty and now has been
