CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Kuwitzky at 6:00PM.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
ROLL CALL
Roll call was taken with Commissioners Kuwitzky, Mooney and Sprecher present.
Commissioner Whittow arrived at 6:13PM. Chief Rens and Alderman Engelhardt were also
present. Commissioner Glazier was excused.
STATEMENT OF PUBLIC NOTICE
The meeting was posted on January 23, 2017.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA ITEMS
Commissioner Mooney made a motion to approve APPROVAL OF AGENDA
ITEMS, Lynn Sprecher seconded. All in favor.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approve minutes from 10/20/16 and 11/15/16.
Commissioner Mooney made a motion to pass both sets of minutes. Commissioner Sprecher
seconded. All in favor.
PUBLIC APPEARANCE
REPORT FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT
Chief Rens advised that he has been in his position for almost three weeks now and things
have been going very well. With all the promotions going into effect, everything has seemed to
transition well.
Chief Rens advised that our K9 received a first aid kit from Royal Recognition and Vest-a-Dog
which will benefit if he is injured in the line of duty. The companies donated a kit to every K9 in
the state that wanted one.
The department had two new officers start on 01/16/17. Officer Nicholas Niedermann is
certified, and in field training, and Officer James Miller is currently attending the MATC police
academy. There is still one opening and the department is in the process of doing the
background on that applicant.
Body cameras have been approved and budgeted. The department is still in the process of
deciding on a vendor.
The ALPRS unit is working well and helping with investigations.
OLD BUSINESS
Assessment process.
Chief Rens advised that with all the promotions and being short officers the department had
not done anything with a mock assessment. Commissioner Sprecher made a motion to defer
this item indefinitely until the police department is ready to proceed. Commissioner Whittow
seconded. All in favor.
NEW BUSINESS
Approval of promotions.
Commissioner Mooney made a motion to approve the promotions.

Commissioner Whittow seconded. All in favor.
CLOSED SESSION
NOTICE OF CLOSED SESSION
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Police & Fire Commission of the City of Muskego will
convene upon passage of the proper motion into closed session pursuant to State Statute,
Section 19.85 (1) (C ):
Considering employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any
public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.
Action may be taken in closed session. The Police and Fire Commission of the City of
Muskego will then reconvene into open session to continue with agenda items.
