CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Mooney at 6:00PM.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
ROLL CALL
Roll call was taken with Commissioners Mooney, Glazier, Kuspa and Jaske present.
Commissioner Whittow arrived at 6:06PM. Chief Rens was also in attendance.
STATEMENT OF PUBLIC NOTICE
The meeting was posted 05/07/19.
Commissioner Mooney wanted it reflected that he wished to thank former Commissioner
Michael Kuwitzky who served on the commission for almost 25 years. The commission wished
Commissioner Kuwitzky the best and welcomed Commissioner Peter Jaske who was
appointed on 05/01/19.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA ITEMS
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes from January 17, 2019; February 18, 2019 and February 19, 2019.
Commissioner Kuspa made a motion to approve the minutes from the above meetings.
Commissioner Glazier seconded. All in favor.
PUBLIC APPEARANCE
REPORT FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT
Chief Rens advised our newest dispatcher, Emily Johnson, started on 03/12/19.
Our newest Officer Ryan Speich started on 04/29/19 and Samuel Weinkauf will be starting on
05/28/19 and we will be at full staff at that point. Both officers will be officially sworn in at our
awards ceremony on 05/21/19, at 6:00PM. At that ceremony, former commissioner, Michael
Kuwitzky, will also be given an award for his years of service on the Police and Fire
Commission.
The new building is taking shape, and we are hoping to get occupancy on July 1, 2019. The
dispatch center is going to be moved on July 23, 2019.
The K9 board is continuing to raise funds and get donations for a second K9 for the
department. Indian Motorcycle will be doing a bike raffle with all proceeds going to the K9
fund. So far today, we have approximately $20,000.00 donated. Royal Recognition and the
Lions Club have donated some larger amounts, with several other smaller private donations
also coming in.
April was Weather Awareness week. The tornado siren radios were found to be obsolete
when the city went to digital radios. Radios were purchased and installed and were found to
be working properly for the scheduled state weather drill.

Election of Officers
Due to Commissioner Kuwitzky not being re-appointed. Commissioner Mooney has moved
into the President position. Commissioner Mooney advised that the by-laws allow not only for
a Vice-President position, but also a Secretary. Commissioner Kuspa nominated
Commissioner Whittow for Vice-President. Commissioner Glazier seconded, motion passed,
all in favor.
Commissioner Whittow nominated Commissioner Kuspa for Secretary. Commissioner Glazier
seconded, motion passed, all in favor.

Commissioner Whittow made a motion to adjourn, Commissioner Kuspa seconded. All in
favor. Meeting adjourned at 6:34PM.
