PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE Minutes - 7/14/2016 Approved CITY OF MUSKEGO PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MINUTES July 14, 2016 6:00 PM Muskego City Hall, W182 S8200 Racine Avenue CALL TO ORDER PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ROLL CALL Aldermen Borgman, Hammel and Engelhardt, Citizen Representative Kuwitzky, along wtih Chief Moser were in attendance. Alderman Madden was also in attendance. STATEMENT OF PUBLIC NOTICE APPROVAL OF MINUTES M. Kuwitzky made a motion to approve APPROVAL OF MINUTES, Alderman Hammel seconded. Minutes from June 9, 2016. PUBLIC APPEARANCE UPDATES FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT Chief Moser advised that over the fourth of July weekend, there were 105 permits given out by the City. Between July 2nd and July 5 the police department received 16 total complaints of those, 5 of the subjects had permits, 5 did not have permits and 6 of the complaints were unable to be located. No citations were issued. The police department is still in the hiring process the first candidate has his physical next Tuesday and will hopefully start within two weeks. The other three are in the background phase. National Night out is August 4, the Chief invited all to attend. UPDATES FROM FIRE DEPARTMENT No one present from the fire department. NEW BUSINESS Stop Sign Ladwig Drive and Audmar Drive. Dr. Paul Conrardy was present in the audience to speak on behalf of the neighbors in the area of Audmar Drive and Ladwig Drive. Right now there is a stop sign for southbound traffic on Ladwig Drive, and it is confusing when eastbound traffic on Audmar Drive approach the "t" intersection. After a brief discussion, Chief Moser recommended the stop sign be removed from southbound Ladwig and placed on Audmar Drive for eastbound traffic. The yield sign that is on Ladwig Drive, for northbound traffic will also be removed. Alderman Engelhardt made a motion to move the stop sign. Citizen Representative Kuwitzky seconded. Motion passed 4 in favor. Alderman Engelhardt made a motion to approve Stop Sign Ladwig Drive and Audmar Drive., M. Kuwitzky seconded. Motion Passed 5 in favor. Princeton Drive Parking. Alderman Madden advised that this agenda item was referred to the Public Safety Committee from the Public Works Committee. The citizens in the area are concerned that when the daycare facility is built next to Taco Bell there will be issues with people parking on the street causing traffic concerns. After a brief discussion the committee decided to dismiss the request until the daycare is built, and if a problem arises they will look into it at that time. Citizen Representative Kuwitzky made a motion to dismiss. Alderman Hammel seconded. Motion passed 4 in favor. M. Kuwitzky made a motion to deny Princeton Drive Parking., Alderman Hammel seconded. Motion Passed 5 in favor. No Parking With Trailer Sign on Forest Drive. Alderman Borgman received a request from a citizen to post a No Parking With Trailer sign on Forest Drive between Muskego Drive and Hiawatha Drive. Chief Moser advised that he did not believe there was a traffic problem in that area, and if you post signs sporadically around the area, you would have to post them on every street in the area. Alderman Hammel asked what the consistency was of how far out from Idle Isle the No Parking Signs go. After a brief discussion, it was decided that Chief Moser would look into what is posted in the area and document it on a map, so the committee can decide if and where signs would be posted to maintain consistency. Citizen Representative Kuwitzky made a motion to defer this item. Alderman Engelhardt seconded. Motion passed 4 in favor. M. Kuwitzky made a motion to defer No Parking With Trailer Sign on Forest Drive., Alderman Engelhardt seconded. COMMUNICATIONS AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS AS AUTHORIZED BY LAW Alderman Borgman asked if the police department had a plan in place if there was a natural disaster. Chief Moser advised the city does have an Emergency Operations Plan, and it is posted on the department's website. Alderman Borgman asked if the plan could be made available to the public at National Night Out. Chief advised he would have copies available for the public at NNO. ADJOURNMENT Citizen Representative Kuwitzky made a motion to adjourn. Alderman Engelhardt seconded. Motion passed. 4 in favor. Meeting adjourned at 6:27PM. M.
