Public Works Committee - MINUTES - 2/23/1978PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD FEBRUARY 23, 1978 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Schaumberg. Also present were Committee Members Tomczyk and Dumke, Mayor Gottfried, Supt. Bertram and Ald. Wallner. The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed, Ald. Schaumberg moved to amend the minutes of the meeting held February 9, 1978, to indicate that the committee had received a communication from several residents in Kristin Downs Subdivision requesting that the indentation off of Canfield Drive be identified as Canfield Court and further that street signs be installed. It was the committee's decision not to approve the request. Seconded by Aid. Dumke, motion carried. The minutes, as amended, were placed on file. Supt, Bertram advised the committee he had obtained fan estimate from Mr.;V. .Demshar, Waukesha County':HighwayCommissioner.; for curbing of the'~deceleration lanes onRacine Avenue in'the 'area -of city hall2 The .? estimate.was::to be approximately $5.00:per ft. -He--advised t~he..:. committee that the County would handle the contracting-and--bidding and a letter of intent must be sent to Mr. Demshar as soon as possible. Ald. Schaumberg moved to recommend to the Common Council that the city enter into an agreement with the Waukesha County Highway Commission which would provide for the installation of curbing the deceleration lanes on-Racine Avenue-in the area of city hall. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried. supt. Bertram ~discussed with the committee the need to acquire necessary easements-for the Glenbrbok Subdivisign Storm Drainage-Project. Ald. Schaumberg-.will see that all the-people involved will-be invited to the next meeting of the committee. The committee reviewed a communication from Rite Realty requesting that $7,566 56 be released from the road base and paving escrow account. The committee noted that if the request were granted a balance of $6,487.50 would be remaining in the account. Ald. Tomczyk moved to authorize the release of the funds subject to a review of the request by Building Inspector Lee and Mayor Gottfried. Applications for employment were reviewed and placed on file. The preliminary plat of Valley Square was reviewed Action on the matter was deferred until the next meeting. Supt. Bertram requested permission to purchase fire hydrant markers which would be attached to hydrants during the winter months. He indicated that he is concerned that in heavy snow the city plows could hit hydrants hidden with snow cover. Ald. Schaumberg moved to authorize the purchase of ten markers Seconded by Aid. Tomczyk, motion carried. There being no further business Ald. Dumke moved for adjournment. Seconded by Ald. Tomczyk, motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 8 50 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Ald.
