PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD NOVEMBER 17, 1977
The meeting was called to order at 7:45 P.M. by Chairman Paul
Schaumberg. Also present were committee members Tomczyk and Dumke,
supt. Bertram, Mayor Gottfried, Aid. Wallner, Building Inspector Lee
Park & Recreation Director Steve Pischke, City Attorney John P.
Buckley, Town of Norway Chairman Melvin Johnson and Mr. IBase Of
the Town of Norway.
Mr. Paul Johnson representing Parkwo0.d Village in the Town of Vernor
appeared before the committee. He-.discussed the drainage plan for
Parkwood Village and~its affect on -the-surrounding areas. Ald.
Dumke moved-to ,recommend Council approval of the plan. Seconded
by Ald. -Tomczyk.. Motion carried..

Supt:~Bertram-informed the-committee there is a leak in the 10,000
gallong gasoline tank. He shall have the seam welded and contact
Badger Oil Equipment Company. from-whom the,city purchased the tank
to determine whether or not some of the-cost of repairing the tank could be reimbursed.
Supt. Bertram informed the committee the concrete apron at Lake
Brittany Estates which had been washed away will be replaced.
Supt. Bertram advised the committee that Morton Salt Co. has turned down the cityls efforts to purchase.salt from them. The only other supplier is -International-Salt Co. ,and in the event they refuse to
sell to the city-another meansof .&icing-the .roads.would have to
be found.
supt. Bertram and Mayor Gottfried reviewed with the committee the
new formula to be used in determining state road aids: supt. Bertr advised the committee that in several instances the City of Muskegc
was not credited with connector streets which, in his mind, should be clarified as such. Supt. Bertram and hlayor Gottfried were authc
ized to review the matter and appeal to the state in those instance
where they feel it necessary.
Gerald Lee reviewed with the committee the request from the develop
of Lake Brittany Estates for release of $61,911.61. He explained that the amount requested was greater than that in the account con.
sidering the 10% which is retained to assure satisfactory completit
of the work. The committee authorized Mayor Gottfried to release
$2,000.00 for sanitary sewers, $13,000.00 for storm sewers and
$31,300.00 for water mains.
The committee acknowledged receipt of a communication from Ruekert
and Nielke regarding the specifications for the second well in the
industrial park.
