MINUTES OF MEETING HELD AUGUST 3, 1972
Chairman DeBack called the meeting to order at 7:40 P.M. Also present
were Aldermen Schaumberg, Ford and Foldy, Mayor Gottfried, Engineer
Barry and Supt. Bertram.
Supt. Bertram reported that the costs of installing signs, including
materials, were as follows:
Stop sign - $25.55
Yield sign - $33.55
Action regarding further road asphalting for 1972 was deferred until the
next meeting to give members a chance to view the roads in question.
Ald. DeBack moved to direct Supt. Bertram to insta~ll a 15" culvert under
Muskego Drive and under Park #3 to Little Muskego Lake to service the
future drainage needs of the East Drive area at a cost of approximately
$1,000.00. Seconded by Ald. Ford, motion carried.
Ald. Ford moved to direct Supt. Bertram to demolish the annex building,
move the debris to a location where it can be burned and to then fill
the basement. Seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, motion carried. It was also
suggested that the city attempt to sell any salvage of value. A quotation
of $400.00 had been received to tear the annex down.
Engineer Barry reported that the following bids were received for the
installation of concrete inverts along approximately 1400 feet of the
Fountainwood ditch:
Brookfield Culvert Co. $14,000.00 Base bid
$0.65/yd - Seeding alternate
W. K. Frederick & Son 26,900.OO Base bid
3,OOO.OO - Seeding alternate
Ald. Ford moved to recommend that the Common Council accept the low bid
of Brookfield Culvert Co. Seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, motion carried.
Mayor Gottfried set a meeting date of g/7/72 at 7~30 P.M. at the
city hall for the purpose of interviewing applicants for the vacant E.E.A.
job.
The Connaittee reviewed plans from Consulting Engineers Ruekert & Mielke
for the improvement of Tess Comers Drive from Woods Road to the east
city limits.
A discussion of utility easements in the Industrial Park was held with
no action taken.
A discussion of drainage in the new Durham Meadows Subdivision was held
with no action taken.
Engineer Barry reported that he will make an overlay of our proposed
drainage easement through the St. Paul's Church property in order that
the Church Board can determine how it would fit in with their master plan.
Engineer Barry repoeted that the Park & Recreation Board has agreed to mow
the northeast treatment plant site.
Engheer Barry reported that the Schmidt farm park will be surveyed at no
cost toyhe city.

Engineer Barry reported that the Moose Lodge is considering improving
the road to their property. Mayor Gottfried advised that certain portions
of it would have to conform to city standards.
Engineer Barry reported that no action has yet been taken on the drainage
complaint of Shirley Giesegh at the corner of Gold Dr. and Lembezeder Dr.
Mayor Gottfried reported that he has written to Ruekert & Mielke on the
following matters:
(a) Elimination of gravel shoulders in Glenbrook Subdivision
(b) The capability of the initial Industrial Park water system to
ser,vice the needs of our Highway Department
Supt. Bertram reported that he still has not yet received acceptable prices
for the Gold Drive Bridge plates.
Supt. Bertram reported that he has not yet had an opportunity to contact
Mr. Peterson on Martin Drive regarding a ditch needed there.
Ald. Ford reminded Engineer Barry of the road repairs needed to be done
in Ward III under the one-year guarantee of the sewer contractors.
Engineer Barry agreed to contact the sewer contractors about the condition
of the roads,in Ward III
Engineer Barry again presented his plans showing possible solutions to the
Woods Road right-of-way complaint of Frank DeAngelis. After much discussion,
Ald. DeBack moved to have Attorney Buckley take the necessary steps to
move the right-of-way off the DeAngelis property. The motion died for
lack of a second.
Ald. Foldy appeared to inquire about the following matters:
(a) 124th Street drainage problems - no action has yet been taken
(b) Landscaping on the Sablich property - no action haps yet been taken
(c) The city lot on Emerson Dr. has eroding fill - the Committee agreed
that Mr. Bertram should move the sewer fill that was erroneously
dumped on the lot.
(d) He questioned when the weeds on the Schmidt Farm will be cut
General correspondence was read and placed on file.
Ald. Ford moved to adjourn. Seconded by Ald. DeBack, motion carried. The
meeting adjourned at lo:55 P.M.
