- MINUTES OF MEETING HELD FEBRUARY 2Q, 1976 0 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Schaumberg at 8:45 P.M. Also
present were Aldermen Dumke, Fpldy and Wallner, Mayor Gottfried and Supt.
Bertram.
0 Mr. Melvin Wojciechowski, 571 W19818 Williams Drive, appeared to discuss
with the committee a water problem in the area. Mr. Wojciechowski owns
Lot 7 Block C which has been adversely affected by the filling of a lot
adjacent to his property. Mr, Bertram explained that he and the Building
Inspector have made an on-site tnspection and agree that the problem can
be solved by proper grading of the lots in the area as construction in
that vicinity proceeds.
Mr. Bertram advised the committee that be had received a letter from Mr.
Demshar, Waukesha County Highway Commissioner, requesting that the city
help in the maintenance and snow removal of state and county roads in the
event of a strike or work stoppage by county employees. He expressed
concern that Mr. Demshar would like the work to be done under the direction
of the county. Ald. Schaumberg moved to advise Mr. Demshar that the city
will cooperate and provide the necessary service as needed, however, it
would have to be done under the city's Superintendent of Public Works.

Mr. Bertram requested that the committee consider reviewing charges for
weed cutting and snow removal, equipment rental, etc. since the existing
rates have not been updated for several years. The committee will review
the matter after receiving from the Clerk's office the loading (benefits
paid by the city) costs of the employees of the city,
Mr. Bertram brought before the committee a water problem on Lake Drive in
front of the Richard Meinecke property. He was directed to get an
estimate of costs of storm water troughs wh$ch might alleviate the problem.
The committee granted the request of the Fine Arts Inc. for help in bring-
ing an old tractor to the city which will be used in the development of
the Bicentennial Park.
Mr. Bertram requested permission to purchase a Home\Qe chain saw and a
diaphragm type pump. The chain saw would coet aDproximately $300.00
and the diaphragm pump approximately $55Q100, The committee reviewed
the following quotes on the pump:

l Ald. Dumke moved to authorize Mr. Bertram to purchase a Homelite chain saw
and a diaphragm pump. Seconded by Aid. Schaumberg, motion carried.
Public Works Committee
_\ 2120176 - P. 2 l Ald. Schaumberg moved to recouanend to the Rules, Laws & Ordinance
Committee a review of Ordinance $1275 as it relates to Ordinance #147
(Re: street excavations and culverts) and that the fee be increased
from $5.00 to $10.00 as well as the establishment of a time limit of
a
60 days. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried.
Ald. Schaumberg moved to recommend to the Common Council the adoption
of Resolution $123-76, Authorizing the Advertising of Bids for Needed
Road Materials for the 1976 Road Tmprovement Program. Seconded by Aid.
Dumke, motion carried.
Mr. Bertram was directed by the committee to prepare specifications and
to advertise for bids for the installation of culverts.
Ald. Dumke requested that Superintendent Bertram review a water
problem on Highway "00".
Ald. Schaumberg reported that the committee will be contacting State
and Federal agencies to determine whether or not funds would be
available to help in the correction of storm water problems in the
Glenbrook Subdivision area.
0 A request received from Mr. Robert Gunnerman that the city defer the
requirement for monumentation in the Kristin Downs Subdivision until
construction has been completed was reviewed. ALd. Schaumberg moved
to recommend to the Common Council adoption of a resolution granting
the request. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried.
The committee discussed the request of Mr. Manske to ,place fill on a lot
adjacent to Meadowdale Subdivision. The committee reviewed the topo-
graphical maps of the area and noted that filling was permitted on
adjoining lots. They determined that the filling would not create any
additional problems as long as proper lot line swales were maintained
and the existing grades of the existing lots were met.
Ald. Foldy requested the Public Works Committee to consider placing a
small culvert at the entrance to Schmidt Park and the restoration of
the ditches in the area.
Ald. Foldy also asked that the committee consider cleaning and providing
adequate ground cover to the ditch which is adjacent to the LaMacchia
property on Fleetwood Drive.
0 Ald. Foldy requested that the committee consider completing the Fountain-
wood ditch from Windsor Drive to Highway "24" and the reconstruction
of the Fennimore ditch from Bristlecone Lane to Woods Road as they begin
their discussions on storm water drainage projects for 1976.
Mayor Gottfried was directed to contact each alderman for needed storm
water drainage problems in their respective wards.
