PWCommittee - MINUTES - 9/4/1975'PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO 0 MINUTES OF MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER 4, 1975 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Schaumberg.at 8~30 P.M. Also present were Aldermen Dumke, Foldy, Colburn and Knudsen, Mayor Gottfried and Supterintendent Bertram. Ald. Ford arrived.at 9:45 P.M. Also present was guest Frank DeAngelis. The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and accepted. 0 Discussionwas held relative to the need for repairs to the Jewel Creek Dam. Supt. Bertram advised-the-committee that the cost would be $7,380.00 and that the Brinlunan Engineering Company of Oconomowoc has agreed to do the work. Ald. Schaumbergmoved to recommend to the Common Council that the needed repairs be made, funds to be taken from the 1975 capital budget. Seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, motion.carried. Mayor Gottfried advised the committee that because of the potentially high :cost of appraisal forthe Kurtze Lane project the,appraisers have recommended that they be authorized to meet with the city 'attorney, Mrs. Viola Kurtze and her attorney prior to doing.any more,work on the.appraisal. Ald. Schaumberg moved to grant said request. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried. 0 Supt. Bertram discussed the Gilbert0 storm sewer problem. He was directed to contact the owner of the adjacent property in aneffort to alleviate the situation. Supt. Bertram discussed with the committee the condition of the ditches on St. Leonard's Drive and the possibility of a need for the replacement of culverts and re-establishment of grades. Mayor Gottfried was directed to contact Ruekert & Mielke to determine what grades were established at the time the,proposed road was approved by the city and their firm. Mayor Gottfried was directed to instruct the city's engineering firm of Ruekert -&Mielke to provide .the committee with's written report of.their findings when checking :each stage of road constructions in subdivisions. Supt. Bertram advised the committee that the highway truck which was ordered in 1974,and had not beenexpected until 1976 had arrived early. He reminded the conunittee that funds had not been provided in the 1975 capital budget since delivery was not expected this year. Ald. Schaumberg moved to recommend to the Common Council that the Public Works Committee be authorized to accept delivery of the truck in 1975 ,and that it be equipped with airshift hydraulic controls and a radio in the amount of $27,985.00 and further that funds be takenfrom unused monies in the 1975 .capital budget. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried. Ald. Foldy discussed drainage problems in the Hale Park Meadows Subdiv- .ision, particularly located on the north,side.of Hale Park Circle .and the south side of Fleetwood Drive with the storm water flowing toward Hale Park Drive. Mayor Gottfried was directed to contact Gerald Lee to determine what l \ progress has beenmade in solving the problem. Mr. Ray Gray of Rite Realty will be invited to the committee's next meeting to discuss final- ‘\ization of grades as well as his plans to provide adequate ground cover &,the open'spaces inHale Park Meadows. Public Works Conrmittee City of Muskego September 4, 1975 - P. 2 Supt. Bertram was directed to contact Bethel Church,regarding the need for a culvert under the driveway,on Cook Drive. Supt. Bertram advised the committee,that, a large oak tree in the Woodland Place (Bay Shore Subdivision) right-of-way in front of the Smith home will be removed. The conditions of the road ditches along Hickory Lane as a result of work done by the Gas Company and erosion from the Lakeview Hills Sub- division were discussed. Supt. Bertrsm to contact the necessary people to have it-corrected. The committee reviewed once again the several requests and concerns from residents of Glenbrook Subdivision. Supt. Bertram was directed to reconstruct a curve north of S.T.H. 24 at the entrance .to the subdivision and to do whatever is necessary to minimize any existing hazards. supt. Bertram was directed to place topsoil and seed where necessary on the shoulders of the streets in Glenbrook Subdivision. It was the committee's decision that any major program to alleviate storm water problems in the Glenbrook S&@visionshould wait until the drainage plan for that area has been completed by Ruekert & Mielke. The committee discussed at length methods which can be used to assure maintenance of open spaces and amenities in planned unit'?deirelopments. Ald. Ford moved to adjourn, seconded by Ald. Dumke.
