PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO.
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JANUARY 9, 1975
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Schaumberg at 8:00 P.M. Also
present were Aldermen Ford, Colbum and Dumke, Mayor Gottfried, Supt.
Bertram, Building Inspector Lee and Mr. Frank DeAngelis.
The minutes of the meeting held on December 5, 1974, were reviewed and
corrected as follows: Price of two (2) 32" culverts is $1310.00 instead
of $1380.00. Minutes were placed on file, as corrected.
Mr. Frank DeAngelis appeared at the meeting regarding his land on Woods
Road.
Ald. Ford moved to notify City Attorney Buckley that the transfer of land proposed by Attorney Arenz, representing Mrs. Dorothy Boldt, is not
acceptable. As proposed the land on the north side of Woods Road is
being transfered to Mr. DeAngelis and not to the city and the proposed
transfers would create an unacceptable jog in the road right-of-way
which could only be corrected by the city purchasing additional right-of
way. Motion seconded by Ald. Dumke and carried. Mr. Buckley will be
notified.
Mayor Gottfried advised the committee that the city's consulting engineers
are preparing a drawing of the proposed relocation of Kurtze Lane on the
city's new 2 ft. topographical maps. When completed it will be submitted
to the committee for their approval. After final approval, descriptions
of the lands to be used for road purposes will be described and the
necessary negotiations with the involved property owners will begin if
authorized by the Council.
partial Ald. Ford moved to recormnend Council approval of/payment in the amount of
$lO,OOO.OO to Brookfield Culvert for work done to date on the Lannon Drive
and Westwood Drive storm sewer project instead of the $12,500.00 as re-
quested by the contractor. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried.
Mr. Bertram advised the committee that the City of Franklin has required the
installation of a culvert at the end of the development which abuts the
City of Muskego in the vicinity of Larkspur Road extended.
Mr. Bertram advised that a manhole at the east end of Hedgewood Drive
which serves the Schwabenlendar property must be repaired by D & K Con-
struction.
The committee reviewed the specifications prepared for a sewer cleaner.
Ald. Ford moved to recormnend Council approval for the advertising of bids
for the purchase of a sewer cleaner with the spray attachment included
as an alternate. One half of the cost of this equipment to be paid for
by the Utility District and the other half to come from the 1975 Public
Works capital budget. Seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, motion carried.
The committee discussed the possibility of building a salt shed adjacent
to the city garage, estimated cost to be from $12,000.00 to $24,000.00.
The matter to be reviewed when monies needed for the 1975 capital budget
program is discussed.
Building Inspector Lee to contact several demolition companies
regarding the razing of former St. David's Church on Ruby Drive.
Ald. Dumke moved to adjourn, seconded by Ald. Ford, motion carried. The
meeting adjourned at lo:45 P.M.
