PWCommittee - MINUTES - 5/30/1974PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MAY 30, 1974 0 The meeting was called to order at 8:OO P.M. by Chairman Schaumberg. Also present were Aldermen Dumke and Knudsen, Mayor Gottfried and Mr. John Mielke. The minutes of the previous meeting held May 9, 1974, were received and placed on file. m Mr. John Mielke presented the plans fornaconstruction of Woods Road between Ladwig Dr. and Sandy Beach Lane. All property owners involved to be invited to the meeting of June 20th to discuss the widening of Woods Road and also the drainage problems in that area. The committee discussed Kurtze Lane and it was their decision to notify the landowners on that street that personnel from the Engineering Firm of Ruekert & Mielke would be in the area to stake out a proposed 60-foot right-of-way. Ald. Schaumberg moved to recommend to the Finance Committee the acceptance of the low bid of Don DeBack for the reconstruction of Kelsey Drive. Sec- onded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried. As there were no bids submitted for the shouldering of streets in Belmont Greens and Glenbrook Subdivision, Mr. Bertram was instructed to contact 0 contractors who might be interested in doing the work. Mr. Fillman, property owner on Woods Road, has donated shrubbery and trees to the city in his wife's name. The Public Works Dept. has been transplanting same in Kingston's Grove. Mayor Gottfried was instructed to write a letter of thanks to Mr. Fillman. 0 Supt. Bertram reported on the requirements of OSBA which were made known at the three meetings held by representatives of the government. The committee agreed that Supt. Bertram should acquire those items which were absolutely necessary and provide a list of other requirements for inclusion in next year's budget. Mr. Mielke discussed with the committee the proposed drainage study being planned for the city. He assured the committee that the study would be of sufficient depth to be useful in the prevention of future flooding. The committee discussed with Mr. Mielke the need for including retention areas where practical as well as identification of water recharge areas. It was pointed out that as the study progressed items could be included or deleted at the discretion of the Council. Mr. Mielke agreed to submit prior to the next Council meeting a more detailed explanation of what the drainage study would include along with an estimate of costs. Ald.
