PWCommittee - MINUTES - 6/21/1973PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JUNE 21, 1973 l Chairman Schaumberg called the meeting to order at 9:57 P.M. Also present were Mayor Gottfried and Aldermen Ford, Dumke, Foldy, Knudsen and Wallner. Prior to the start of the meeting Mr. Gene Lawinski appeared to discuss the Fountainwood ditch easement. A group of citizens from the Westwood Drive area also appeared to complain of drainage problems. Supt. Bertram * will study the problem and also the affect that the Lazynski-Beck develop- ment might have on the area. The plan for street lights along Highway 24 from Lannon Dr. to Bay Lane was referred to the Public Safety Committee for a recommendation. Supt. Bertram reported that a Mr. Robert Duve of Muskego Dam Road has complained of a water problem because his neighbor Orville Peters is not pumping. Ald. Schaumberg moved to approve the June 18th revised plan for the St. Paul's drainage project including a~ surface drainage spur for the parking lot. Seconded by Ald. Ford, motion carried. No action was taken on the plugged farm tile in Hi-View Acres. Supt. Bertram reported that the city will offer some assistance for clearing the Big Muskego Lake Dam and the Holz Dr. canal from floating bogs. A complaint by Martin Ludwig of an abandoned trailer and debris on an easement to Bass Bay was referred to Building Inspector Lee. Ald. Ford moved to have the Public Works Dept. fill the old gravel pit on Durham Drive that belongs to the city as it is a safety hazard. Seconded by Ald. Schaumberg. Motion carried. Supt. Bertram reported that it was his opinion that the Public Works Dept. could easily keep a full time mechanic busy. Supt. Bertram reported that the Lemke property is being sodded all the way to the Little Muskego Lake Dam. Ald. Ford suggested that the remainder of the dike be seeded as soon as possible. Ald. Schaumberg reported that residents of the Bass Bay area feel that the effluent from the sewage treatment plant is contributing to heavy weed growth in the bays. Referred to the Public Sewer Committee. Ald. Ford moved to recommend that the Common Council amend the Public Works portion of the Capital Budget to postpone the Kelsey Drive Project until next year and use the money instead to complete smaller projects. Mayor Gottfried explained that we are way behind because of the storms. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried. Ald. Schaumberg moved that the Common Council accept the low bid of Payne and Dolan for bituminous concrete work for city streets at a price of $7.14 per ton. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried. Mayor Gottfried reported that the proposed final location for Kurtze Lane will be reviewed at the next meeting. Ald. Foldy reported that ditches in his ward need cleaning. Ald. Dumke reported that drainage water from Hi-View Acres is held up at Durham Drive. A petition was received from Operation Comeback asking for assistance in clearing channels in the Holz Dr. area from bogs. Correspondence was received and placed on file. Ald.
