PWCommittee - MINUTES - 11/8/19730
PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD NOVEMBER 8, 1973
The meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman Ron Ford at 4:30 P.M.
Also present were Aldermen Dumke, Czarnecki and Knudsen and Mayor Gottfried
and Supt. Bertram.
Mrs. J. House, Ladwig Dr., appeared at the meeting regarding a drainage
problem in back of the homes on the west side of Ladwig Drive. Ald. Ford
reported that any resolution to that problem would be dependent upon the
city's decision regarding the relocation and reconstruction of a section of
Woods Road west of Ladwig Drive. He further advised Mrs. House that that
decision will probably not be made until after the first of the year and
after priorities have been set by the Public Works Committee.
Mrs. L. Kraker and Mr. and Mrs. Hedstrom, Cook Drive, appeared before the
committee to discuss drainage problems resulting from the accumulation of
water in back of their yards. Mr. Bertram was directed to fill a ditch
which was previously opened to help drain the area. Residents of the area
were advised that consideration will be given to create a ditch along the
north side of Cook Drive.
The committee discussed a proposal from the Waukesha Co. Highway Commission
to have the City of Muskego provide winter maintenance of Highway "00" from
the Milwaukee-Waukesha Co. line at a cost of $1400.00 per season. It was
the committee's decision to reject. the proposal. Mayor Gottfried to
correspond with Mr. Demshar.
The request of Mr. N. Rambo, owner of the former Patton pond, to reditch
Tennyson Lane in order to prevent surface water from entering into the
pond was denied. Supt. Bertram advised the committee that this request
would involve raising several culvert pipes and that some trees would have
to be removed. It was his opinion that after final ground cover has been
established by the new homes in the area there would be a minimum of
siltation.
The claim from Mr. S. Dombrowski, Holz Dr., for a damaged tree as a result of
work done by the Public Works Dep@. was referred to Sentry Insurance Co.
Mr. Bertram reported that the city's offer to clean out a ditch between
Muskego Dr. and Garnet Dr. and level out sewer fill on the Broberg property
was rejected.
The request of the developers of the Parkland Subdivision for acceptance of
roads and ditches was deferred pending a review by the committee.
Discussion was held over the disposition of a submersible pump used during
the installation of sewers in the Tess Corners area. Neither the Public
Works Dept. nor the Park Board have a need for the pump so it was decided
to advertise it for sale.
Ald. Ford moved to have the radio in the former engineer's van repaired at
a cost of approximately $231.53. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried.
Mr. Bertram reported that the city's offer to sod the roadside ditch in
front of her home and raise the endwalls by her driveway was-rejected by Mrs. LaRue. m Ald. Ford moved to have the city absorb the cost of pumping fuel oil from
tanks at the new city garage which floated as a result of excess ground water.
It was the decision of the committee to authorize Mr. Bertram to have the
gas and fuel oil tanks at the former city garage filled to use as a reserve
supply.
