MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JANUARY 4, 1973
l Chairman DeBack called the meeting to order at 8:15 P.M. Also present
were Aldermen Ford,Schaumberg, Knudsen and Foldy, Mayor Gottfried and
Supt. Bertram.
Ald. Schaumberg reported the results of a sub-committee meeting held
recently with School Board representatives regarding Bay Lane Road.
Another meeting is scheduled for January 16, 1973, at 7:00 P.M.
0 Ald. Schaumberg moved to recommend that the Common Council take the
necessary action required to acquire the Dr. Ralph Lassa property for
public purposes. Seconded by Ald. Ford. The motion carried with Ald.
DeBack voting "no".
Mayor Gottfried reported what progress has been made on the new city garage
and the industrial park well.
Mayor Gottfried reported that J&A Excavators have filed a claim with the
city for extra mucking work they did at the industrial park site.

A discussion took place regarding the frequently shoddy work done by the
Wisconsin Gas Company in repairing "open cuts" made in city streets or
drainage ditches. Mayor Gottfried agreed to write to the Gas Co. and
demand quality restoration work.
Ald. Ford moved to recommend that the Common Council approve a partial
payment of $8,000.00 to Brookfield Culvert Co. for work completed thus
far on the Fountainwood ditch inverts. Seconded by Ald. DeBack, motion
carried.
The committee agreed to have the Highway Dept. conduct an experimental
Christmas tree pick-up on Monday, January 15, 1973. The pick-up will be
publicized in the local newspapers.
The committee agreed to have Mayor Gottfried notify Ruekert & Mielke to
proceed to define the S. Denoon Road right-of-way as the Town of Norway
wishes to reconstruct their portion. The city had previously entered
into an agreement with the Town of Norway to share the cost of such a
survey.
Supt. Bertram suggested that a shed should be provided to house the
emergency by-pass pump located at the Lannon lift station. The matter
was referred to the Sewer Committee.
The committee authorized Supt. Bertram to prepare bid specifications for
new Public Works equipment authorized in the 1973 budget.
Ald. Ford moved to authorize Ruekert h Mielke to prepare plans and specif-
ications for additional concrete inverts for the Fountainwood ditch.
Seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, motion carried.
Supt. Bertram agreed to determine the cost of installing an underground
drainage ditch from Bay Court through the Don Yahr property to Little
Muskego Lake.
Mayor Gottfried agreed to write to the Franklin City Engineer regarding
a swampy area south of Somerset Dr. at the County line.
A discussion took place regarding the question of hiring a new City Engineer.
No decision was made.
Communications and a job application were reviewed and placed on file.
Ald. Schaumberg moved to adjourn, seconded by Ald. Ford. Motion carried.
The meeting adjourned at 11:15 P.M.
