l A discussion took place regarding the right-of-way complaint of Frank
DeAngelis. Ald. Ford agreed to find out what the State and County do
in similar situations.
Ald. Ford moved to authorize the Highway Dept. to resurface Crowbar Road
north of Highway "24" to the north city limits and also Martin Drive
between Lannon Drive and Southern Heights Drive. Seconded by Ald. DeBack.
Motion carried, The committee agreed that the remainder of Martin Drive
and Hillendale Drive would not be resurfaced this year in an effort to
save money and because the condition of said roads does not merit re-
surfacing at this time.
Ald. Ford moved to recommend that the Public Works Committee accept the
low quotation of $926.00 from Republic Steel Corp. for the Gold Drive
bridge plate. Seconded by Ald. DeBack, motion carried.
Ald. Ford inquired about the unfinished condition of asphalt inverts along
the west sir& of Crowbar Road south of Field Drive. Ken Thode advised
that these would be finished when the Gas Company is through working in
the area.

Ald. Ford reported that the DNR has requested that the city provide two
dump trucks and a front-end loader on October 21st, 1972, to help remove
dead fish from Little Muskego Lake. A dump site will also be needed.
Ken Thode advised that fill from a new home being constructed next to the
Shirley Giesegh property is partially on her property and the matter has
been referred to Building Inspector Lee.
A letter from Engineer Barry to Ruekert & Mielke was read concerning
the road repairs necessary in Jewel Crest Subdivision under the one-year
guarantee.
\ Mayor Gottfried reported on the progress of the Little Muskego Lake
dam and dike. The rip-rap is being laid and the seeding will begin soon.

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD AUGUST 16, 1972
The meeting was called to order at 8:55 P.M. Present were Chairman
DeBack and Ald. Ford. Ald. Schaumberg was absent. Also present were
Aldermen Foldy, Dumke, Knudsen and Cole and Ken Thode of the Highway Dept.
Mayor Gottfried will call Waukesha County Highway Commissioner Vencil
Demshar, to request a 50' culvert for the new city hall drive.
Mayor Gottfried reported that he has not yet heard from Ruekert & Mielke
regarding the elimination of gravel shoulders in Glenbrook Subdivision.
A letter from Ruekert & Mielke was read suggesting that the Industrial
Park well be drilled and test pumped first and then the pump and related
equipment can be sized and priced before any final decision is made re-
garding a larger tank or cistern to take care of the needs of the Highway
Dept.
Ald. Cole reported a complaint from Robert Smith regarding a drainage
problem at the corner of Martin and Southern Heights Drives. The
problem is being taken care of, however, the committee suggested that
Engineer Barry make a study of the entire area and make recommendations
for future drainage patterns.

0 Aid. Foldy reported that water apparently from a spring was coming
out of the pavement at the intersection of Somerset Dr. and Longfellow
Lane. The Highway Dept. will attempt corrective measures.
Aid. Foldy reported that drainage ditches in Fountainwood Subdivision
have been widely damaged by the sewer contractors. It was agreed that t1
the Highway Department would repair those ditches that the sewer con-
0 tractors fail to repair.
Ald. Ford asked whether culverts could be clea~ned in the fall to
help prevent culvert freeze-ups in the spring. Ken Thode reported
that many culverts are plugged because people carelessly rake
leaves into the ditches and sometimes leave Christmas trees there.
Ken Thode reported a complabnt of Harold Swanto regarding a broken
drainage tile causing mud to flow on his land. Ald. DeBack agreed
to talk to George Schaefer regarding an easement in order that the
city can install a culvert between the two properties.
Correspondence and job applications were reviewed and placed on file.
