MINUTES OF MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER 7, 1972
Chairman DeBack called the meeting to order at 8:35 P.M. Also present
were Aldermen Ford, Schaumberg, Foldy and Knudsen, Engineer Barry and
Supt. Bertram.
Mr. William Schmidt, Mr. Felix Turzinski and Mr. Ernie Hunt appeared at
the meeting to complain of drainage problems along Richdorf Drive both
east and west of Racine Avenue. Their concern was with water in the
ditches, inadequate ditch size and soil erosion.
Ald. Knudsen reported that similar problems exist along Bay Shore Drive
and Richdorf Drive to the northwwst. It was agreed that Engineer Barry
and Supt. Bertram should survey the area to determine solutions.
Mr. John Schmitt appeared to complain of a drainage problem along his
property at Emerson and Lowell Place. Supt. Bertram reported that a
perforated pipe sub-drain would solve the problem and that he would bring
cost figures to the next meeting.
Ald. Foldy and Supt. Bertram will tour the Fountainwood areas to note
items that the sewer contractors have not taken care of.
Ald. DeBack reported that George Schaefer would not give a drainage easement
through his property. Mayor Gottfried reported that Harold Swanto has
agreed to give such an easement. The committee agreed to install a drainage
tile through the Swanto property.
Ald. Foldy reported the following drainage complaints have been received
from his ward:
Leonard Hayne - Hemmingway Dr.
James Hillstead - Saroyan Rd.
Nick Cinquemini - Longfellow La
Walter Hubrich - Tess Corners Dr.
Ald. Ford requested that the city provide trucks, a front end loader and
a dump site to assist the DNR and Little Muskego Lake Association during
the carp eradication project on October 21st and 22nd. The committee agreed
to eliminate resurfacing of Martin Drive between L
Heights Drive. Repairs will be made instead.
Supt. Bertram agreed to contact State Sand & Gravel Co. to see if they
will resurface Crowbar Road along their property.
Ald. Foldy reported that the landscaping of the Sablich property has not
been done as yet.
Engineer Barry presented plans and specifications for the Tess Corners
Drive reconstruction project. The committee agreed on the following points:
(a) The contractor should dispose of all fencing and the city will work
out the replacement of same with the owners at a later date.
(b) Ditch sides must be seeded and maintained during construction.
(c) No dump sites for excess soil will be specified.
(d) Hydro-mulching of the road sides should be included as an alternate.
(e) Mayor Gottfried will write to citizens along the road.
(f) Bids will be opened on September 29th.
Mayor Gottfried agreed to ask Mr. Patton for a 12' drainage easement along
his property at Longfellow and Tennyson.

0 Engineer Barry reported that a sewer pipe distributor has offered to pay
for TV inspection of sewer lines of our choice so that they may compare
the durability of their pipes with those of their competitors. Matter
was referred to the Sewer Committee.
The committee agreed to deduct $483.99 from the final payment to Rock
Contractors for Job #370. The deduction is for repair work the city did
on Hillside and Richdorf Drives.
m Engineer Barry will write to Vernon Adair and inform him that he has
forfeited his $25.00/per opening retainer.
The committee agreed that Cape Construction Co. must finish their work
on School Drive before the next meeting or the city will do the work
and deduct the cost from their final payment.
/ The committee agreed that Engineer Barry should inform Cathlina Construction
Co. that their restoration work on Garnet Drive is unsatisfactory.
The committee agreed to have Engineer Barry inform Mr. Terry Vipo,nt/that
the city has finished filling and grading on the adjacent property.
Ald. Ford reported a drainage complaint by Diane Skowronski. Supt. Bertram
0 reported a complaint by Les Sorenson, Jr., Muskego Drive, on the same
problem. Ald. Ford will have Building Inspector Lee inspect the area.
The committee agreed that a drainage ditch is necessary in front of the
Peterson property on Martin Drive and that the existing shrubbery there
must be removed.
Ald. Ford reported a request by the Park and Recreation Board that a
complete drainage survey be made of Jensen Park because of the many
problems there. Engineer Barry and Supt. Bertram agreed to do so. supt.
Bertram will determine the cost of tiling the baseball field.
Ald. Ford reported that the Jewel Crest Dam is badly in need of repairs.
Committee members will look at the dam prior to the next meeting.
Ald. Knudsen reported that a considerable amount of trash and litter exists
in Muskego Creek.
Ald. Knudsen reported that there are bad potholes in Gaffney's Subdivision.
Ald. Knudsen reported that fill being placed next to the Giefer property is
interfering with a natural drainageway. He will contact Bldg. Inspector Lee.

Ald. Ford urged that completion of the Gold Drive Bridge area restoration
be done as soon as possible because of deteriorating conditions.
Mayor Gottfried reported that materials are arriving for the new cit$?
garage but they cannot be stored on the site as yet.
The committee agreed to stay with the size pump presently planned for the Industrial Park and to have Ruekert & Mielke furnish us with costs for a
cistern for filling city tank trucks.
e Mayor Gottfried reported a request that the city place a load of gravel
on the Leo Brozynski lake access to restore an area disturbed by DNR trucks
hauling gravel onto the lake bed. No action was taken.
Correspondence was read and placed on file.
Ald. ,Ford moved to adjourn, seconded by Ald. DeBack, motion carried. The
meeting adjourned at 12:30 A.M.
