MINUTES OF MEETING HELDIMOVEMBER 9, 1972
Ald. DeBack called the meeting to order at 8:30 P.M. Also present were
Aldermen Knudsen, Ford, Schaumberg and Dumke, Mayor Gottfried and Highway
Supt. Bertram.
Supt. Bertram reported that few trees will be able to be saved along the
Ray Foelker and Jim Weber properties due to the upcoming reconstruction of
Tess Corners Drive.
The committee agreed to uphold their previous decision regarding the
installation of a drainage culvert between the Sadowski and Siebert
properties on Topaz Drive. The city will install an underground culbert
approximately to the end of Mr. Sadowski's driveway and then construct a
swale the remaining distance to Jewel Creek,

+ Mr. Art Heiden appeared to ask that the drainage ditch along the north side
of the John Ross property on Muskego Dr. be cleaned out as it now causes
water to back up into Mr. Heiden's house. The committee agreed to have the
DPW do so and recommended that Supt. Bertram consult with Mr. Ross before
commencing work. Ald. Ford will contact Harold Ryan of the Soil Conservation
Service regarding the possibility of a flood control structure further
upstream.
The committee selected the brick to be used on the new city garage.
The committee suggested that Supt. Bertram use his own judgment in the
selection of floor tile and interior paint for the new city garage.
- Engineer Barry reported that the streets and ditches of Parkland Plaza are
in atrocious condition. The committee directed him to tell the architect,
Mr. Paschke, that the city will do the necessary work if the developers
do not take care of it.
Ald. DeBack reported that he had talked to Mrs. DoProthy Boldt regarding
the Frank DeAngelis matter. Mrs. Boldt indicated that she was not receptive
to any further discussion on the matter.
The committee agreed to grant the request of Father Leonard Drewek to allow
spoil backfill in the proposed St. Leonard Drive provided adequate flushing
is done.
Bills from Suburban Asphalt for work done on Garnet Dr. and Oak Grove Dr.
were referred to the Sewer Committee.
Ald. Ford moved to recommend the payment of a $2,000.00 draw to Brookfield
Culvert Service for work done to date on the Fountainwood Ditch project.
Mayor Gottfried reported that a 10,000 gal. water storage tank for the new
committee agreed to look into the possibility of using water from the
community wells of the new subidivisions.
Supt. Bertram reported a need for equipment storage space. . He will check
out the possibility of using the Lakeside Tool Building or Thode's baq
over the winter months.
Ald. Knudsen reported that new home construction along Oak Court would

Ald. Schaumberg reported that his neighbor would like permission to run
clear sump water into a nearby drainage tile. The matter was referred to

Ald. Ford reported that the P%rk & Recreation Board would like Supt.
Bertram and Mayor Gottfried to tour various park facilities with Ald.
Ford and Park Supt. McCullogh to examine the need for improvements and
ways that the DPW can help.
Ald. Dumke reported that some of his constituants had requested that
yellow or white lines be painted on the sides of Durham Drive and
Woods Road. Supt. Bertram explained that it was too late in the year
to do such work.
No word has yet been received from Attorney Buckley regarding Kurtze
Lane.
- Engineer Barry again cited the deplorable condition of ditches in
Woodhill Subdivision and read a copy of his letter to the developer -. regarding the matter.
Mayor Gottfried reported that Don DeBack had agreed to begin the
reconstruction of Tess Corners Drive next spring instead of this fall
at no change in the contract price.
Mayor Gottfried agreed to prepare a statement for Mr. George Martin of
College Avenue, New Berlin, to sign indicating Mr. Martin's approval
of additional drainage culverts under College Ave.
Ald. Ford reported that Norman Frahm of Island Dr. had complained that
Island Drive was not blacktopped to the end of his property. The matter
was referred to the Sewer Committee.
Ald. Ford reported that a drainage ditch was necessary along the north side c
of Pearl Drive in Oak Ridge. Supt. Bertram will check.
Ald. Ford reported that a culvert under BMskego Drive at the Tame1
residence.appeared to be plugged. Supt. Bertram will check.
Ald. Ford reported that a drainage pljoblem still exists at the Gust Bleichro
property on Agate Dr. Supt. Bertram will check.
Correspondence was reviewed and placed on file.
Ald. Ford moved to adjourn, seconded bp Ald. Schaumberg, motion carried.
The meeting adjourned at 11:lO P.M.
