PWCommittee - MINUTES - 10/19/1972PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD OCTOBER 19, 1972 Chairman DeBack called the meeting to order at 8:lO P.M. Also present were Aldermen Ford, Schaumberg, Foldy and Knudsen, Mayor Gottfried and Supt. Bertram. Mr. Ray Foelker and Mr. Jim Weber of Tess Corners Drive appeared to ask that the trees along the front of their property be saved during recon- struction of Tess Corners Drive. Supt. Bertram will view the area and determine which trees can be saved. Mr. Robert Sadowski and Mr. Gordon Siebert of Topaz Drive appeared to request that the proposed drainage tile along their lot line be extended an additional 265 feet to Jewel Creek. The committee members agreed to look at the area in question before the next meeting. Mr. Nino Coello of 165 & College Ave. appeared to determine the status of his request for an additional drainage culvert under College Ave. County Highway Commissioner Demshar's response was reviewed and judged inadequate. Mayor Gottfried will contact the Co. Highway Committee and Mr. Coello was advised to contact his County Supervisor. Ald. Ford agreed to get an estimate for the repairs necessary at the Jewel Crest Dam. Ald. Foldy appeared to express his concern over the lack of road barricades available for police emergencies. Supt. Bertram agreed to repair some small barricades and paint with reflective paint for the use of the Police Dept. Mayor Gottfried agreed to contact Ryan Construction Co. to request that the filling of the Vipond property be completed since the weather has been dry. A discussion was held regarding Dr. Lassa's lot on Little Muskego Lake. The Committee agreed to further survey the area and get more information before taking any action regarding road and drainage easements. Mayor Gottfried agreed to ask Don DeBack if he would honor his low bid for the reconstruction of Tess Corners Drive if the work is delayed until spring. Ald. Knudsen appeared to request that ditch inverts for the Richdorf Drive area be included in the 1973 Capital Budget. Supt. Bertram reported that the contractor responsible for the water coming out of the road at Longfellow and Somersethhs refused to make the necessary repairs and that the city should do the work and deduct the costs from the contractor's payment. Ald. Ford moved to include the asphalting of East Drive with the other re- surfacing jobs to be completed this year. Seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, motion carried. A letter from Mr. Tom Buechel of Muskego Drive regarding the position of maintenance man for the new city hall was referred to the Finance Committee. Ald. Knudsen requested that part of the old city garage be considered as a storage area for metal andglass to be recycled. Supt. Bertram showed the committee a sample of face brick available for the new city garage. The committee rejected the sample and asked for a larger choice of brick. \ A wage increase request by the Public Works employees was referred to the Finance Committee. The Capital Budget was reviewed and updated. Correspondence was reviewed and placed on file. Ald. Ford m\oved to adjourn, seconded by Ald. Schaumberg. The meeting adjourned at 12~07 A.M.
