PWCommittee - MINUTES - 9/2/1965l PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE CITY OF MUSKEGO l Minutes of meeting held September 2, 196.5. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Weaver at 4:06 PM. Pre- sent were Chairman Weaver, Aid. Budish, Ald. Wieselmann and Mayor Gottfried. City Clerk, Bette Bowyer, appeared before the Committee and questioned the interpretation of when an employees vacation period starts, per- taining to the period of service of men on the Highway Department. Section 5, Resolution #29, is interpreted by the Public Works Couanit- tee to mean that after 1 year, a man is eligible for 1 week, after 5 - years, is eligible for 2 weeks, after 10 years, is eligible for 3 weeks. If additional time is taken between fiscal years of employment he will not receive compensation. If the employee requests to work instead of taking time off and receive his pay for such week, this will not be granted. The employee must take off from his job. This is the in- tention of vacations, One of the Highway Employees spoke with Chairman Weaver and requested to meet with the Committee. This will be granted. A letter is to be sent to the Wisconsin Retirement Commission by the e City Clerk inviting a representative to meet with the Committee and other membera of the Council as well as any other interested City &tzployee. Two applications for employment received and to be placed on file. The Culvert Ordinance was discussed, copies to be made for each com- mitteeman and referred to next meeting. Specifications for the reconstruction of Woods Road from RY Y to RY 24 were viewed and discussed. It was agreed that Mr. Chester Spitxner be invited to attend the next Public Works Committee meeting on September 16th. The proposed road construction specifioations submitted by City Engi- neer Ruekert and Miefke were reviewed by the Committee. They are to be discussed again at the next meeting. The slurry method of road repair was disousse+ and the possibility of using it on a trial basis in one area this yegr. Motion was made by Ald. Budish, seconded by Ald. Wieselmann to use slurry method in Bel- mont Greens instead of sealing coat scheduled for this year, to study effects of traffic and durability and this is to be a trial area. Motion carried.
