PWCommittee - MINUTES - 5/7/1965l PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE CITY OF MUSKEGO ;;yT;; ;; THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS MEETING HELD ON MAY 7, 1965 : a, * Meeting was called to order by Chairman Weaver, Alderman Budish, a Alderman Wieselmann, and Superintendent Bertram were present. A field trip for Aldermen is to be arranged in the near future. Supt. Bertram will accompany the Committee on the first trip and later members of the Committee will take the remaining Aldermen on a similiar tour. Discussion on the Moorland-Pilgrim road through Muskego was held relative to communication from Mr. L. D. Schneider of the State Highway Commission of the State of Wisconsin. Moved by Alderman Budish to recommend to the City Council the adoption of a resolution of Approval of a formal request for a Federal Aid Secondary Route for the Moorland Road Extension. Mayor Gottfried will be contacted by Chairman Weaver relative to the Pension Fund for City Road Maintenance Employees and to the date that a man from the State of Wisconsin would be able to attend a meeting for the informational benefit of the Council or its repre- sentatives. l Supt. Bertram mentioned Culvert responsibility relative to the installation. Culvert ends should be a necessity on new Culvert Installations, they should conform to building codes. Snow Plows have knocked down several and had to be rebuilt by the highway dept. Alderman Budish moved to refer this matter to the Rules, Laws and Ord~. Committee to draw up a resolution requiring culvert ends on all new installations. Seconded by Chairman Weaver. Carried. The need for an additional man was considered. Numerous applications were received and discussed. Motion was made by Chairman Weaver that the Council authorize the Public Works Committee along with Supt. Bertram to hold interviews and hire an additional man for the High- way Dept. by June 1, 196.5. Seconded by Alderman Wieselmann. Carried. An acknowledgement from Central Engineering regarding sander for new 1965 IHC Truck to be placed on file. Letters to Mr. Ed. Reiten regarding removal of tavern on inter- section of Racine Avenue and HY 24 and drainage of land north of KY 24 and west of Racine Avenue were read and placed on file.
