Public Works Committee - MINUTES - 3/3/2010 CITY OF MUSKEGO approved 5/17/10 PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MINUTES OF MEETING HELD WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3, 2010 Alderman William Schneider called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Also present were Alderman Neome Schaumberg, City Engineer David Simpson, and Public Works Superintendent Wayne Delikat. Alderman Tracy Snead was excused. Ald. Schneider led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting was noticed in accordance with the Open Meeting Laws on February 25, 2010. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JANUARY 6, 2010 Ald. Schaumberg moved to approve the minutes of January 6, 2010. Seconded by Ald. Schneider. Motion carried 2-0. CITY ENGINEER/PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT REPORT None STATUS OF PROJECTS Janesville Road Reconstruction (Moorland to Racine) - City Engineer Simpson informed the Committee that the County will be putting up temporary lights at Martin and Janesville Roads this spring/summer. Nothing else new to report. Durham Drive Reconstruction – City Engineer Simpson informed the Committee that the City should be receiving 60% plans in the next few weeks. Woodland Place Drainage Improvements and Road Construction – The Committee reviewed the proposed plans. City Engineer Simpson will send letters out to residents before the bidding. 2010 Road Improvement Plan - $625,000.00 in budget for 2010 per City Engineer Simpson. $25,000.00 allowed for inspection firm. A map was provided showing the roads planned for 2010. UNFINISHED BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS Discussion of Traffic Control Signage at Jean Drive and Sue Marie Lane - City Engineer Simpson agreed with Memo from Captain John LaTour that a yield sign would be beneficial on 2 Sue Marie, opposed to a STOP sign. Ald. Schaumberg motioned to install yield signs on Sue Marie Lane and Sue Marie Court. Seconded by Ald. Schneider. Motion carried 2-0 Discussion of Possible Drainage Improvements and Road Reconditioning at Luehring Drive - Ald. Schneider stated the drainage problem has been ongoing for years. City Engineer Simpson discussed a design quote from Ruekert & Mielke for the survey and design of a modified urban section (curb & gutter) roadway. R&M’s proposed reconstruction project would extend from Hillview Dive to approximately 380 feet south of Hillview Drive. The area currently has minimal ditches and has extremely steep slopes adjacent to the west of the road. The east side of the road consists mainly of paved parking areas, garages and driveways. The second option would be to replace culverts with larger culverts. Ald. Schneider motioned to proceed with R&M to get proposals and not to exceed $14,000.00 for this project at this time.
