CITY OF MUSKEGO Approved
PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MONDAY NOVEMBER 24, 2009
Alderman Snead called the meeting to order at 6:24 p.m. with Ald. Schaumberg present along
with City Engineer David Simpson, Ald. Borgman, and Mayor Johnson.
Alderman Snead led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The meeting was noticed in accordance with the Open Meeting Laws on November 18, 2009.
NEW BUSINESS
Recommendation of award for Refuse and Recycling Collection and Hauling Contract (City
Engineer) – City Engineer Simpson informed the Committee that the City of Muskego’s current
contract with Veolia Environmental Services will expire December 31, 2009. Quotes for a new
contract were publicly opened November 18, 2009. The city received three bids with Veolia
being the low bidder. The addition of a second yard waste drop off site was discussed, but the
Committee felt that one yard waste drop off site was sufficient. City Engineer Simpson
recommended approval of a contract between the City and Veolia ES solid Waste, LLC for
Refuse collection, School District Collection, Bi-weekly Recycling Collection, and one Yard
Waste Drop Off Site. This should be contingent on the City Attorney review and approval.
Ald. Schaumberg moved to approve the City Engineer’s recommendation. Seconded by
Ald. Snead. Motion carried 2-0.
ADJOURNMENT
Ald. Schaumberg moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:41 p.m. Seconded by Ald. Snead.
Motion carried 2-0.
Respectfully submitted,
