Discuss timing and level of Little Muskego Lake Drawdown (Mayor Johnson) – Mayor Johnson
informed the Committee that a range level of up to 24” was set by the DNR. The Lake District
recommends the level of draw down and the Public Works Department lowers and raises the
level accordingly. Ron Ford, a resident on the upper end of the north channel, informed the
Committee that he cannot access the lake from his property due to the level of drawdown. He
would like to see the drawdown level at 12”. Little Muskego Lake District recommended a
drawdown of 17” this fall to prevent damage to the shore line and to prevent damage to
equipment that is left near the shore line. This recommendation was given to the Public Works
Department and the lake was lowered 17”. Ald. Snead suggested that Mr. Ford work with the
Little Muskego Lake District regarding dredging of the channel. It was also brought to the
Committee’s attention that due to the fact that water was not taken out of Big Muskego Lake in
anticipation of receiving the water from Little Muskego Lake, Big Muskego Lake is now
flooded. There is nothing that can be done this year, but City Engineer Simpson suggested that
the Public Works Department update their Policies and Procedures for future drawdowns.
