Public Works Committee - MINUTES - 9/15/2008 CITY OF MUSKEGO Approved PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2008 Alderman Fiedler called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. with Ald. Tracy Snead present along with Public Works Superintendent Wayne Delikat and City Engineer David Simpson. Alderman Fiedler led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting was noticed in accordance with the Open Meeting Laws on September 9, 2008. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF AUGUST 18, 2008 Ald. Snead moved to approve the minutes of August 18, 2008. Seconded by Ald. Fiedler. Motion carried 2-0. CITY ENGINEER/PUBLIC WORKS SUPT. REPORT City Engineer Simpson informed the Committee that the Little Muskego Dam Repair project is out for bid right now. The 2009 Road Program is done. The Hillside Drive project is underway, but before work can begin the City needs a written agreement from the residents on Hillside Drive stating when this work is complete they will not ask the City to do more work. STATUS OF PROJECTS Janesville Road Phase II – City Engineer Simpson informed the Committee that the public information meeting is scheduled for September 18, 2008. There will also be a public information meeting for Racine Avenue/Interstate 43 October 9, 2008. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Discuss drainage at S67 W18950 Steeplechase Dr. – City Engineer Simpson recommended that the Public Works Department install an inlet behind the curb along Steeplechase Drive to alleviate icing on the roadway. Ald. Snead moved to approve the City Engineer’s recommendation. Seconded by Ald. Fiedler. Motion carried 2-0. Request by Ald. Borgman to discuss drainage problems in Parkland Subdivision – This item is deferred until the City gets a cost estimate for cleaning and repairing ditches and culverts in the outlots for a possible future special assessment. Ald. Fiedler suggested that City Engineer Simpson and Superintendent Delikat meet with the residents on site. Lake Forest Subdivision – Drainage Easement Maintenance – The City Attorney reviewed this matter and determined that this type of maintenance is the responsibility of the individual property owner or the Homeowner Association. It is not the City’s responsibility to maintain surface water drainage facilities. Ald. Snead moved to deny the claim at this time. Seconded by Ald. Fiedler. Motion carried 2-0. Public Works Committee Page 2 September 15, 2009 NEW BUSINESS Request by Ald. Schaefer for a no parking sign at the entrance to Lake Meadows Subdivision – Ald. Fiedler informed the Committee that the parking of cars along this intersection is causing a problem with the vision corridor. Ald. Snead suggested that City Engineer Simpson inspect the site and defer until next month. SUBDIVIDER’S EXHIBITS None ACCEPTANCE OF IMPROVEMENTS None NEW BUSINESS PLACED ON FILE None ADJOURNMENT Ald.
