Public Works Committee - MINUTES - 5/19/2008 CITY OF MUSKEGO Approved PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MONDAY, MAY 19, 2008 Alderman Fiedler called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. with Ald. Neil Borgman and Ald. Tracy Snead present along with City Administrator Jennifer Sheiffer and those per attached list. Alderman Fiedler led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting was noticed in accordance with the Open Meeting Laws on May 16, 2008. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF APRIL 21, 2008 Ald. Snead moved to approve the minutes of April 21, 2008. Seconded by Ald. Borgman. Motion carried 3-0. CITY ENGINEER/PUBLIC WORKS SUPT. REPORT STATUS OF PROJECTS Janesville Road Phase II – Nothing new to report. 2008 Annual Road Program Update – Nothing new to report. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Hillside Drive – Ald. Schneider and Ken Ward, with Ruekert and Mielke, talked with the residents. Ald. Fiedler suggested this item be taken off the agenda until a decision is reached and a final cost for the project is determined. Request by Ald. Borgman to discuss the Burning Ordinance – The Committee will research this further to determine if the ordinance needs to be changed. Request by Ald. Werner to discuss Center Drive access – Ald. Werner stated that the residents in this area would like to use this access and construct a pier. Mary Hinners, owner of Tres Locos, will purchase and have the pier installed at her expense. She would also insure the pier. Ald. Borgman recommended approval of Ald. Werners suggestion accepting the use of peir from Mary Hinners depending upon City Attorney’s approval. Seconded by Ald. Snead. Motion carried 3-0 to move this item to Council. Grading issues Candlewood Creek – Ald. Fiedler informed the Committee that the subdivision is going to hire their own engineer. Engineering Tech. Dan Flamini stated that the drainage pipe is clogged. He suggested that the grade in this area be brought back to the original proposed grading plan for the subdivision. Ald. Fiedler suggested that the Committee wait and see what the subdivision comes back with from their engineer. Public Works Committee Page 2 March 10, 2008 NEW BUSINESS Request by Ald. Fiedler to discuss spring pick-up of yard waste – Ald Fiedler said he has been getting calls from residents who would like spring pick-up of yard waste. He will talk to Superintendent Delikat and get more information. Request by Ald. Schaefer to discuss installing signs at some intersections in Lake Meadows Subdivision – Ald. Schaefer informed the Committee that this is an older subdivision and stop signs were never installed. Ald. Snead suggested that yield signs might work better. Ald. Snead moved to approve yield signs at Cindy Dr. and Victoria Dr., Valerie Dr. and Jennifer Dr. and Valerie Dr. and Karen Ct. Seconded by Ald. Borgman. Motion carried 3-0. Review and action on Supplemental Agreement #2 for engineering services from Bonestroo, Inc. for the Tess Corners Streambank Stabilization Project for construction administration, staking and inspection services – Ald. Borgman moved to accept the additional cost. Seconded by Ald. Snead. Motion carried 3-0. Request by Ald. Borgman to discuss drainage at S67 W18950 Steeplechase Dr. – Since the property owners are not present this item will be deferred until next month. Request by Ald. Borgman to discuss drainage at W180 S6698 Muskego Dr. – Since the property owners and Superintendent Delikat are not present this item will be deferred until next month. Request by Ald. Borgman to discuss the addition of No Parking signs on Wentland Dr. – Ald. Borgman stated that the residents want a “No Parking” sign installed. Ald. Snead moved to approve the “No Parking” sign on Wentland Dr. Seconded by Ald. Borgman. Motion carried 3-0.
